Hello everybody, I’m starting to work at an online product company, which only recently upgraded its marketing department. I will be the only creative there for the time being, so I guess I will be in charge of brand maintenance as well taking the brand to the next level and setting the foundations for a creative department, which will hopefully grow further along the road. If there are any forum members here who went through a similar process in one way or the other and are willing to share their thoughts, insights, inputs, tips etc. I would really appreciate the help. Actually, any piece of advice would be great. Where would you start? What would you focus…

Hi, I hired a web designer a few months ago for an online real estate agency project I was working on. One of the issues I faced was that I get shown the designs though inVision but had to share links for every design I wanted to approve. I'm running a quick survey below to find out some of the problems the community faces and would appreciate if you filled it out. https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/N928XD6

Hi, this is going to be a dumb question but here goes. I am a designer. I work primarily in Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. I am being asked to choose images for my work's web site that is being developed. It is a hefty web site with literally hundreds of images needed. However, the ladies building the pages, the administrator don't want to show me how to place the images into the design. They want me to scroll through the beta website and pick photos that I think will look best. Im finding this difficult to do. I really need to see how the photos look with all the elements, and how it flows, the cropping, the story they tell... etc. Im wondering if this is usual pro…

I bought a template and it uses an svg file for its icons. I'd like to edit this to change the icons. First, I tried opening in all my browsers -- Firefox, Chrome, and IE, all latest versions -- and it shows up as a white block. If I tried to convert it, but it becomes a black block. I tried opening it in Photoshop CS5, but it won't. I also tried paint.net (because an article said it would work), but it gave me an error too. I'll attach the file icomoon.svg

Most important things to redesign: -more colorful and structured category pages -improving responsivity -upper and side menu redesign There are more projects we need to redesign after this, so long-term cooperation is preferred. Trying to find a free tool that is simple to use. Been unsuccessful so far. Tried all the usual suspects, Flash, Premiere, and they're as user friendly as I remember (not at all). Premiere's export has a horrible dithered look despite hitting maximum quality. Flash and their symbols nonsense, pass, thank you. There are converters out there for image sequences (that's what I got) but I also need to add a logo on top, so I need a tool that has layers. Most of the simple free tools out there are leagues ahead of Adobe in terms of simplicity of use but that's the one point I'm falling down on. Anybody got any suggestions?

Hello, I was looking for feedback on each of the following branding styles for a local lighting maintenance company, they maintain both retail and residential places and were looking for a more exciting brand presence. Each of these are different designs although the client can mix and match some items that are not essential to the connection between the branding and the logo so I am up for some critiques and suggestions thanks

Hello all! I've recently ventured into website making/blogging, and whilst I've been enjoying the past few days, I was wondering what I could do to update my website design. The website seems to lack presence, and I'm wondering when is the best time to start think about the logo? (assuming it's wayyy too early for me to thing about making one)

I have circular logo for my company. That's cyan and red. I don't want to change that, as I have it on stationary, some labels attached to products sold etc. I do however want to add the logo to a website, with the company name. At the minute, my design is the one you see with "Kirkby Microwave" written in a gray text, to the right of the circular logo. I'd appreciate any thoughts of its design, or how it could be improved. The site it is on is https://www.kirkbymicrowave.co.uk/ I think there are a number of issues with the design of that site, most noticeably the menu structure is a bit poor, and the site looks dated. But that's not my main concern at the mom…

Hi Forum I've asked a local company to design a web site for my new food delivery business and wanted to limit free home delivery to within a 5-miles drive between my postcode and the customer's. I'm sure I've seen another food company in the past using a tool whereby the customer inputs their postcode and the embedded app confirms the driving distance qualifies, i.e. that it is within 5 miles in my case. I would expect the food order to proceed for home delivery if the 5-mile test was met (driving distance...not radius), and a message flagged should the distance be greater than 5 miles confirming this and asking if the customer wished to proceed with self collectio…

Basically, I'd like to be able to easily snap to a grid when drawing (I want to draw mathematical stuff) and I want to be able to easy move the points (for example the points of a line that I drew, the points would be the start of the line and the end of it) and move these points to another point on the grid. Is there anything that does that for MAC?

I know that this is a bit off. Most Designers want nothing to do with PowerPoint, and I am one of them. It's not made for us, it's made for "them". The non-designers of the the world. Unfortunately, My employer insists that I learn PowerPoint and know it well. I've gone in and dabbled here and there, but it seems so foreign to me. I'm familiar with good ol' Adobe products like Photoshop and Illustrator, where you do specific things like set kerning, leading, tracking, etc. In PPt, they use super-leyman's terms for everything, like "line-spacing" What the heck does that mean? Do you mean leading? stroke width? dash gaps? Stuff like that. I feel like my knowledge of what ne…

I am preparing letterheads for use by various people with different software and operating systems. It looks like a MS Word .dot file might be the way ahead. Is this so, the best option? I was thinking of saving in old Word format, .doc not docx , is that wise? I am working on Libre Office, but verifying the display of the files with Word Online via a free Onedrive account. Do I need to edit and resave in Word Online? Does it produce a more reliable file than Libre Office?

I am trying to write a little document formulating and specifying the elements of graphical corporate ID for an organisation I am involved in. Not really designing but trying to get some consistency in presentation in print, web and peripheral graphics. I am thinking I will describe the use of: Initial Letters Words, Company Name, url. Taglines Fonts The Oak Leaf emblem and combinations with typographical elements above Colours Logos & Letterheads Document Styles The usage is for anyone producing documents internally, so minutes, reports, publications, plus externally if we ask someone to produce something in print or exhibition materials or whatever. What I am…

Hey everyone, I'm sure some of you work with Sketchbook Pro, I just got it recently and was wondering a thing. I love this perspective mode, and basically I would like to draw on top of photos, I would like to "re-draw" photos if you see what I mean. I want to do this with perspective mode because it's fun and all lines etc. are straight and clean. When I import a photo in Sketchbook and turn on perspective mode, how do I choose the perspective points that so what I will draw will fit the photo I imported? How do I find the right points on the horizon? Thank you!

Please drop me any feedback on this design. The concept is the letters J, M, A shaped to form wave crests. I don't like the idea of following other car rentals "design trends", the ones with car keys / tires / gears / etc somewhere on their logos. I don't think a logo should tell people exactly what the company does anyway. The company name is long enough and tells enough what it does. The company is based in Bali, hence warm beach and waves as the idea. http://image.ibb.co/h9pmQa/JMA_2_a.jpg http://image.ibb.co/f5a4BF/JMA_2_b.jpg

I've attached an image and looking for some freebie help, I know it does sound cheeky. If possible I'd like the image to have some 3D depth and also converted to a transparent png, I've been trying for the last few hours and lack both skill and tools. If anyone fancies the challenge i'll be deeply in your debt and forever grateful, the image will purely be used with no profit making, a community site. Thanks in advance Cheeky Edguy.

Hello, I'm using Bootstrap grid (1170px) when working in photoshop, and I'm curious which one of the 2 options on the img is right. In CSS there is -15px side paddings making it 1140px wide but I don't know if it apply for menu items - for their boxes. I'm guessing the second one is right, but I'm not sure. Than you for any advice.

I don't own PhotoShop anymore and don't have any graphic design apps. But basically, the background image of my site takes some time to load, so I'd like to compress it. I know there's services where you can do this online, but I'm not sure what to think of it. You can do it with Preview (on Mac (I'm on Mac)) as well, but I can't judge if it's well done or not. I don't have the eye for that. What do you think is the best method to do it for free? I don't feel like buying an app just for one image. I don't work with images a lot. Which way compresses it the best while keeping it the best possible quality? Thanks
