So if you look at my logo I have these white dots on the edges. They aren't visible at first but when you zoom in they are. I was wondering how I could get rid of these, i've tried select by color but it seems to select other parts of the logo which I don't want it to. It's OK when you're zoomed out but when you're zoomed in it looks horrible. I'm using GIMP by the way. Can you give me any feedback to what else I need to improve also?

Hi all, I am stepping my foot onto a packaging designing company. I got to read a thread in your forum which was really very useful for a beginner like me. I know it is the packaging material and design software that makes a perfect packaging. But I know that getting to that level is really difficult. All I need is advice from the professionals here. Which software do you think is the most usable one? The company that provide quality packaging may be using one specific software for that. Does anyone know about it? Or you can help me by giving some suggestions and advice which would help me to be successful in my new career. Thanks in advance!

Hi Guys, I'm working on this logo for a Real Estate Investment Company (OPENGATE PROPERTIES). The company buys distressed homes from either individual home owners or shortsales/foreclosures, then will either flip them (renovate then sell for profit) or renovate and rent them out. They also market to investors to bring them on for capital. The owner is going for a very professional/sophisticated look, and wanted the logo to look like a large investment firm rather than a small, campy company. He wanted a certain degree of sophistication that would appeal to investors as well as the distressed homeowner, giving a sense that the company has done this before and kn…

I need to use sport photos for my web-site. I discovered that shutterstock and others sell them ONLY for editorial use. So I am kinda confused where all other web-sites get images? So my question is can I use flickr photos? I would be willing to pay reasonable money, but i can't negotiate for each photo. And I know this may bring ire, but what if I just use them? There are hundreds of users on flickr (not getty) who are posting their images (like this for example https://secure.flickr.com/photos/121955733@N05/) . What consequences if i just take some images and use them? thanks

I know you don't need to be a painter or an artist to be a graphic designer, but I also know it does help. Thing is, I can't paint. And as I ponder the option of whether to focus more on web development or graphic design, I'm not entirely sure whether not being able to paint would hinder my graphic design abilities and learning. What say you?

Hello everyone. In my past I had designed buttons for my website on my own, and some were pretty decent looking, but most were just too simplistic. And I am having no luck finding a dedicated website for templates of all kinds. I use photoshop, who doesn't? I found a few odd ones on deviantart and a few here and there, but they were very simplistic. I'm hoping someone can help me find a site where I can maybe do some advanced searching or narrow the results by types of buttons. I have found these buttons, that I do like, and the site that I found them on had written on the bottom that people are free to use. But I'm hoping to see some different shapes and styles before I…

Hello designers! First post here, I'll try to become an active member. I don't have any designing skills though. We hired a designer to make the logo for our company. The problem now is that we don't know what colors we need to use for the rest of our website (backgroundcolor or backgroundimage, other color use on the website, ...) Do you guys can give me some pointers on what colors to use? Thanks! Kind regards, Jimmy

I hope this is the right forum to post this. There is a channel on YouTube called “Blue Lightning TV”, it is all about Photoshop tutorials. The man who runs it Marty, has worked in the TV industry in the past. He is a brilliant teacher, one of the best online. The channel is perfect for people who are starting in graphic design, he also has lots of fun designs. I thought I should share it with you, maybe someone will find it very useful. Hello, First off, please don't eat me alive - im current doing my HE Access to art in Graphic Design at the local college, so I am by no means a full fledged graphic designer yet I've been asked by a friend to "spice up" his logo and website. No problems at all. I'm looking to do a "Vintage" Feel to the logo and branding.. but can't seem to find the right font, I've tried a few and none seem to take my liking. I have tried Vanilla Whale but not 100% sure on it. It could be me be fussy. Any suggestions to fab fonts, preferable free as being a friend i'm not charging, just using it for the experience and portfolio building. Thank you so much

Hi, i need some help with a graphic banner. it has 15,32 m (width) X 3m (height). The problem is that is the first time doing this kind of banner, so big, and i don't know where to start. I use Adobe Illustrator but it doesn't alow me to create a new document that big. Also the products that will be added in the banner should be continously. Hi all, Just a quick question, it seems like this should be simple enough but I don't know how to do it, I've searched online for a bit and didn't find much. Basically I want to add a gradient effect over an wood texture image and still have the texture visible. What I have tried was adding a new layer and adding a gradient to it, but it doesn't look all that good. Attached are examples of what I need. Thanks, Al.

Hello all, I'm a server side developer but unfortunately, I've been forced to design a menu for my website as my graphic designer has let me down. I've traversed the web for tutorials and found some great little menu design tutorials which I've implemented to a decent standard, however, I want my menu to span only a small percent of the width of the screen, for the rest I want to design a great looking banner-like image to span the rest of the screen. As I've mentioned earlier in this thread I already have a great looking menu but need a banner to span the rest of the width and compliment my menu. If anyone knows of any links to pages that teach this for Firew…

Hello, I'm looking for some help with the following logo design: - EXCEL must have the same font style (while the name itself will probably change, but that doesn't affect anything else) - font for "shop" is undefined, so I'd be glad for any font advises here - background must remain #3f5765, text color must be yellow, but can be in different shade - logo will be used in similar web design: journal.digital-atelier.com/2/ Apart from mentioned, the biggest problem is that "e" character. I just can't find good font, design and dimensions for it. It just doesn't fit. Could you help me out with that? Thanks in advance!

Hi All, Sorry to be spamming the forum today. Can anyone tell me what the technique is called or point me to any tutorials on how to make up letters out of images? To try and explain... basically for an example you have the word "ART" and rather than it being just text you have typed in Photoshop you have many small silhouette type images that form together to make the letter A and your eye just fills in the gaps. It's hard to explain and hence why I'm not sure what to search for in Google but I have seen logos done in the past in this way. Thanks for any help.

Hi All, I have a couple of questions for the graphic designers out there! I have been asked to design some stationery for a company I am doing a website for. Initially I declined as this is not my area of expertise but they wanted the whole package or would look for someone else. so I accepted....They have asked for a letter head, business card, compliment slips etc. The company already has a logo, (Thank goodness...) but I have not designed for print before as I am a web designer. Can anyone be kind enough to let me know if there is anything I should ask the client before hand to make this go as smoothly as possible as I have no idea about designing for print except t…
