Hello! I'm developing a website and I have a Skype Call button on it. So if someone clicks it, then they can call me on Skype. It works in literally ALL browsers, except for Firefox, which simply opens Skype application and that's it. I don't know how and where to change that default FF browser's behavior? SOLUTION: The issue is resolved. It was just a misconfiguration of Skype in FF's Options - Application menu. Actually, it's well described here: https://community.skype.com/t5/Features-Archive/Click-to-call-not-working-firefox/td-p/3232610

Hello! Now all of a sudden I have a weird issue. For some reason, in the footer where you see 4 columns (those are all Custom HTML modules in Joomla) - HELPFUL LINKS, NEWSLETTER, CONTACT US and BUSINESS HOURS, under NEWSLETTER and BUSINESS HOURS the text is misaligned and I can't get it back to normal. Tried to re-create the text in the module. Doesn't help. Have no clue what that could be!

Hello! I use Joomla 3.6 and WARP 6 Framework template and it has an option to enable compression in a template manager. It says: Combination+Minify+Data URIs+GZip I enabled it and tested my site's speed. I've seen some improvement. Not something major, but... My question is... So is it a good idea to enable compression like that? Is there anything bad about it? I don't know anything about it pretty much, so any input is welcomed.

Hi, Can anyone recommend a lightweight and easily-updated CMS for me? (I know this is a "how long is a piece of string" question!) Ease of updating is important, in case of security issues (something that can update itself automatically, or with 'one click' would be ideal), and lightweight, so that updating isn't a chore otherwise and because I don't think I need too many fancy features(?!). My feature requirements hopefully aren't too onerous and are probably fairly typical: LAMP-based (where P could be PHP or Python) Rich text editor (but the ability to use Markdown or similar could also be nice, but not essential) Image gallery (although simply the abilit…

My knowledge of web design is very limited. I'm looking for a way to allow individual customers with their own secure user area to update a page (it's actually a form with their information) at any time. My hosting service offers WordPress, Joomla, Drupal and several other CMS systems. I'd be very grateful for suggestions as to the simplest route to take.

Hi, Found a piece of code and modified it to remove Woo's review tab and then set under the product description. This is what I am using /** * Remove existing tabs from single product pages. */ function remove_woocommerce_product_tabs( $tabs ) { unset( $tabs['reviews'] ); return $tabs; } add_filter( 'woocommerce_product_tabs', 'remove_woocommerce_product_tabs', 98 ); /** * Hook in each tabs callback function after single content. */ add_action( 'woocommerce_after_single_product_summary', 'comments_template' ); Worked like a charm except for one thing which is now driving me crazy to try and figure out. Only in the ADD A REVIEW/YOUR RATE section i…

I recently used Perch for my new portfolio site. What I like about it is it puts your markup first, then the CMS plugs into the areas where you need it. It allowed me to create a site where I can keep the markup lean, resulting in speed improvement I wouldn’t have seen with other CMS options. I've used both Wordpress and Concrete5 before while these are great if you need to allow your clients complete control, I find the can be bloated as a consequence. I'd love to discuss Perch more with anyone else who uses it here. http://grabaperch.com/

Are there any login page designer plugins that are free that can do what this one can do it? https://wordpress.org/plugins/login-page-styler/screenshots/ It's the best login page designer I've come across so far, but you have to pay to unlock some of it's features. I'm just wondering, are there any free plugins that can do these things also before I pay for this one: add image to the background make login form transparent round off the corners of the form add logo of any size change where the login form is at on the page remove register link and link going back to the site I've check out a few similar plugins like Custom Login Page Customizer, Theme My …

Hello, I am in the process of creating a video sharing network and have seen some great themes and set-ups on platforms such as Wordpress. The main issue I am having is that Youtube offers it's users the ability to get a cut of profits from the adverts that show on their specific videos. I have looked everywhere for a way to set this up on my new site but i cannot find anything and am starting to tear my hair out now. Does anyone have an idea on how this can be done. I know that type of back end system needed is rather complex but there must be some form of software(s) that can provide this type of service. I have been trying to find a way for people to accrued…

I am looking for a CMS that can do out-of-the box the following: 1) User login/authentication with accounts registered with popular social networks (facebook, twitter, vk) 2) User comments under articles I know this all can be done with plugins in, for example, Joomla, but my question is whether there is a CMS that can do it natively. Thanks!

I realise it looks kinda dead, but it isn't... People are still developing plugins and the author still seems committed to providing security patches. https://www.wolfcms.org Does anyone here have access to the forum? Or connected to anyone inside the community? I have been very keen to participate in designing/developing for this CMS, however the forum hasn't been sending out emails. I would like to let them know about this issue, but I couldn't find any email addresses on the website.

I am giving some casual advice to a local charity, and this is somewhat outside of my direct experience. The situation is this: The charity holds an archive including a quantity of old photographs relating to the local area. Assume all out of copyright. Hundreds but not thousands of images. They are considering the wisdom of Making a digital version of the archive Making the images available to the public Maybe generating a few bob of income and some positive PR The thinking is that the images will be of interest to local people and family history buffs. I am saying there are two options: Scan the images (yourselves), keep the files safe and upload to some kind …

I'm doing a PHP course (for beginners) which involves creating your own CMS and it got me wondering whether it would be okay to use my own CMS for clients who only need basic functionality such as updating text, adding pages, etc. I know with more complicated stuff there might be security issues, but if it's only simple actions, well, what do you think? I'm thinking I could develop it more over time as I learn more about PHP and security, etc - it would be good to learn from. I would still use Drupal/Wordpress where appropriate. I'm asking about this as while I'm currently trying to get work as a freelance, general web designer, long term I'd like to specialise more i…

Hello, I have done several threads on here about a project called ATMS - the name has since changed, and we operate in an organisational fashion (ATMS, which is now known as UnitManager is a project of the organisation UniTools, meaning Unit Tools, a Unit being Team). The project that we are currently recruiting for is called UnitManager (as mentioned above), and this will eventually be the main selling point of the organisation. It is a web-based application which allows organisations and individuals to manage the teams that they direct with ease and effectiveness. This powerful software that we are attempting to develop will do the following: - An innovative a…

I am not sure if I am posting in the right forum. I use bbpress with WordPress. I am trying to attach the Login//Logout links to the secondary menu. The links redirect users to specific pages in my effort to bypass the WordPress admin bar. I succeeded partially but the problem is that the Login/Logout links display on both menus - primary and secondary. I can't for the life of me find a code which would get the links to my secondary menu only. I very much hope someone will be able to help. Here is the code I took from the bbpress site - I am still trying to get help from their support which may or may not come. Many thanks in advance. add_filter( 'wp_nav_menu_items', 'my…

I have created a GitHub Repositary which contains a README.md about the project - please let me know either on there or on here if you would be interested in contributing. Hi All, Require a bit of help with h4 headings in my theme. Website:boatpartsforless.com Theme: Yithemes/Regency The problem is, on my shop pages for category headings the theme uses h4. Easily fixed using div.category-name, h4 { text-align: center !important; color: #1C357D !important; font-weight: bold !important; font-size: 20px !important; } to the style preferred. Problem, this is also over-riding h4's through-out theme. I only want to use the style above for Category Page categories. Can I do that with a heading that is used through-out the theme?

Hi, I am creating a new staff management system called ATMS, and I need a Web developer that is fluent in html, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, PHP and general Web development languages to help make this happen. I would prefer not to pay anybody, as you will get 50% credit for the development, and if we ever dexide to license the software, you would get 50% of all profit. I have more details already typed out, so if you are interested, then please private message me. Thanks.

Hi, I'm wondering where to start learning about CMS's. Though for clarification - am I right in thinking a CMS is what you use to enable someone else to update a website without having to edit the actual html files and upload them, etc? Morning! I'm not a pro so bear with me on this! my website www.handmadegb.co.uk has a slight problem. I backed up my website for the first time after it has been designed by a designer and for some reason the lay out has changed on each product page. I restored the website but it's still the same. Then I noticed the layout is fine on the PC but different on the I pad. Im not an expert but would like some advice on how to get the layout as it was before I backed it up. Cheers

My company has a site, however, this new gaming network requires its own seperate site. We already have a domain name and hosting. What CMS would you recommend? My requirements are as follows: - A CMS that incorporates the following modules: > Home page, about page etc. > Forums > Store - Scope for server integration (TeamSpeak, Mineccraft etc.) - can be custom coded. - A wide range of themes/styles available in the community. I would use XenForo or IPB, however, they are far too expe…

Greetings to all members of the forum. I am not sure if this is the proper topic to post this.. forgive me if it's not. After creating many websites using some popular CMS systems, I got very disappointed on how complicated they are. They are supposed to be very easy to use even for a plain user... but my experience tells me that its impossible for a plain user to create something decent using them. Even a programmer is having hard times to properly setup everything.. not to mention what happens when you want to create custom themes or plugins.. You should go all the way through a hard learning procedure. You must read and understand a complicated framework structure…

Dear All, I am new to this forum. Unfortunately I am not a programmer, web developper or a web designer. In other words I'm visting this forum rather for some usefull information and in the hope I can find someone who can help me with a project I have in mind. Visitors can create an account to save their favorite videos / picture galleries, give a rating, add a comment, etc.,... I tried several free and commercial scripts but unfortunately they often lack the layout that I want (and which often cannot be changed without…

I have a guy rebuilding my woocommerce/wordpress site from the ground up. I have the Bolder Elements Table Rate Shipping plugin, but we can't get it to do what I need. I have two types of product on my site. Lets say A) & . A) ships internationally, only domestically (within the UK). So I need product setting up somehow so they can't be shipped outside of the UK, even if the customer tries to buy it along side product A) which does ship overseas. Also, some kind of alert telling international customers why they can't complete the checkout w…

Hi Everyone Just a very basic question which probably has been asked before, I am looking for a Content Management System which is great for being able to manage different sections, via different users. My website deals with reviews and interviews for example - so I'd want my reviewers only able to edit the review section, the interviewers able to edit the interviews & then the homepage only to be edited by one admin etc. We would also be looking for something which could create polls, run pages which update themselves automatically (such as BBC Football Live) and be able to upload various videos on feature pages etc. I guess a lot of the user systems …
