Morning! I'm not a pro so bear with me on this!

my website www.handmadegb.co.uk has a slight problem. I backed up my website for the first time after it has been designed by a designer and for some reason the lay out has changed on each product page. I restored the website but it's still the same. Then I noticed the layout is fine on the PC but different on the I pad.

Im not an expert but would like some advice on how to get the layout as it was before I backed it up.

Sorry I forgot to mention I had about 13 updates for the plug ins and a wordpress update!

Did you update the plugins before you backed up your site?

 

What type of backup did you perform, was it a full file and db backup or just a file or db backup?

 

Because chances are if you haven't backed up everything and you've updated 13 plugins that may be effecting your layout because if you are only restoring part of the site the bit your missing might relate to the bit that's broken.

I did a full back up and database backup with my host provider. I just a thought that I didn't restore my database so I'm performing one now. I hope it's the right thing to do.

I've restored both full back up and db back up but the layout is still incorrect. Is it down to the design and coding? It's such a bug bearer that every time Im gonna have to update plugins it's going to change my website and lose functions? Is this normal? Will I need to go back to the designer?

It really depends, were the backups taken before you updated the plugins?

Yes I did back up before updating plugins and wordpress.

Hmm... well if that's the case then once you've restored everything in theory your site should be back to normal.

 

In regards to this happening every time you update, it could be a possibility, if the original developer bolted on new features rather than using plugins then you may have issues when updating WordPress, however without looking at the site and it's code I couldn't say for sure.

Ok thank you for your help! I guess I will have to go back to developer.

I agree with richard! its bit tough to say on any point without watching particular web page code. It'll be better to make sure everything in front of your web developer.
