Plugins for sure are the number 1 culprit. I'd disable them all, enable them on by one and see which plugin is causing the slowness, if ever.

I think Hostgator is a good option as well. Really good prices but just don't expect too much on support But if you know your way around things, then it will be a good option for you.

I have to admit, their tech support still needs to be better.

Same here, not really a fan of GoDaddy. I think they abuse the fact that they have a lot of customers and tend to ignore common issues.

Just curious here though. Which hosting provider does you forum site use? I was looking for a good hosting provider myself.
