THE ATMS (Automated Team Managemenet Software) Project - Needs Contributors

Featured Replies

Hi,

I recently created a thread on here asking for help developing my project - an automated staff/team management web application to be used with all kinds of organisation, from Gaming Networks to corperations.

I have created a GitHub Repositary which contains a README.md about the project - please let me know either on there or on here if you would be interested in contributing.

The GH repo can be found at https://github.com/JoshuaQuinlan/ATMS

Thanks, once again.

Okay you have peaked my interest,

What languages are you hoping to use?

  • .net
  • php
  • mysql
  • mssql

I would like to use anything that you think may help, but, the fhe following would definitely be required:

  • PHP
  • MySQL
  • HTML/CSS
  • Java(Script)

I not massively farmiliar with the other programming languages that you have listed above, however, I can always learn, and if you think they would be required, or could add to the project, then I would be more than happy to accomodate these into the project.

Thank you for your interest in my project.

Generally it's either .NET or PHP (never really both)

You can run either db technologies, but normally if your running PHP site MySQL is the choice as it's also open source, where as MS (Microsoft) SQL isn't free (although there is a free edition).

On a side not I noticed you have but Script in brackets, there is no need for that as Java is completly different to JavaScript and it should always be referenced to as JavaScript never just Java unless you are actually referring to Java.

Thanks very much for that - advice greatly appreciated.

So, do you think you would be interested in contributing to this project? We can talk more in Private Message if you wish?

Thanks again.

There's plenty of others like Ruby, Python, NodeJS. Not suggesting that you use these, but be aware there's others out there besides .net and PHP, Node becoming very popular now.

Yeah - sure thing. Do you think you would be able to contribute to the project?

I'd suggest looking into some of the PHP frameworks if you choose to go down that path. A framework like Laravel will save you significant time, and keep the application structure sane.

Fraid not, I'm pretty busy with my own projects as it stands but good luck with this one. We're always here to contribute with some bits of advice.

I don't mind getting on board, although I'm not sure what I can bring to the table?

^^^^^^^^^^

What the guy above said - I would love to work with you.

You might have to be patient. Finding good developers even for a well paid gig is hard going. Too much demand, not enough developers - We're all often so busy..

Good luck though :)

Sorry for my being hasty - I just really want to start working on the project..

I understand that you are all very busy.

Many of these items are a monumental task. For example:

There would also be a global Instant Messaging system (simillar to Skype or Slack), and a private messaging system.

This may (or may not) be possible - add voice chat functionality so that interviews and meetings can be done through the online software.

Administration Panel:

Accessible via (e.g.) staff.yourdomain.com/admin (can be changed through admin panel)

There's also nothing to go by in terms of wireframes, functional specs, and process flow. You simply can't create software like this without meticulous planning.

Also, I'm not sure I understand the idea fully. It sounds like a project management tool?

I will work on this and then let everyone know I have done so.

I've created a basic splash screen and login page (login page not functioning) to show you approximately how I would like them to look. I don't really know how to connect a form to MySQL, and I would like to make it so users can be managed from the admin panel, and groups can be assigned permissions.

I can provide the code upon request, however, I have put some screenshots below:

Here's a quick sketch that I did of the staff area (I am not good with graphics):

if anybody is interested, please PM me.
