April 28, 201412 yr I have a project at uni, it's getting really close and I have ran out of ideas, I need a little help The project is for branding and logotype, my logo is done, - company name evabright What I need help with is how to convey certain things as an advert We were given an item and an imaginary product, I was given a lightbulb and told that the product is a lightbulb that does not require power and never goes out. I need to covey those with a poster without getting too complicated, I did try a few things, this is one But it was over complicated, not everyone got the message I have thought about using a light clock like this or this But am unsure on how else I could convey power and light that is eternal and would love suggestions Thanks
April 28, 201412 yr Does this have to be an image, i.e. a printed ad campaign, or can it be moving image? If you can do the latter, then you could show (or just storyboard) a time-lapse of the bulb through time and a series of historical events. If it has to be an image, you could just pick a series of historical moments that feature the bulb, or historical figures using it. For example, an image manipulation of Abe Lincoln signing a document with the lightbulb casually lighting his desk. Another idea is 3 kings arriving at a stable to witness the birth of a certain baby, guided by a bulb rather than a star. Or you could add some humour, and maybe they're lost in the desert somewhere because the light was so bright, even across huge distances that they followed that thinking it was a star. If you can do both still imagery and moving image, then you could combine the two ideas and have something multi-format, which I'm sure your tutor would love to see you thinking about.

Hmm, I need to make simple but understandable, it would be great for a series of designs but I would worry about people not understanding the message if they only saw one advert, great idea though and I will explore that further thanks The Sun? How about the Sun shining through your (very nice) bulb logo and some text. I tried using the sun in another piece only it looked like a loaf of bread, you are thinking along the same lines I did but it will be something else I can explore further, maybe the issue was not the idea, maybe it was simply the execution.. ThanksP.s thanks for the compliment on the logo
April 30, 201412 yr Author Every piece of content is useful for ideas, so thanks for every image lol.. I have done word searches, but I have also been a little picky to the ones I have decided to pay attention to, maybe that's part of my problem, not looking wide enough so thanks for those images and of course the extra ideas to look into
May 4, 201412 yr Author Had a little rework, unfortunately the sun idea did not work out but it did lead me to this, would like any opinions, thanks
May 4, 201412 yr Author Thanks, I was told by my tutor to come up with a concept that described the product, I assumed that it did not have to say 'bulb' because I think the logo says it in that image.. As my tutor has said to me a few times 'don't create designs that assume your audience are stupid and won't get the concept without obvious pointers' - although she does not say it exactly like that I think that's what she means. Bit of a risk really as the deadline for this project is Thursday lol
May 7, 201412 yr Author Thanks, I will have to check the space idea out Work in progress, nowhere near finished, currently integrating with expression engine - my site: http://mentiondesign.com
