Internet Explorer 5 for Macintosh is the fastest.

 

not have much experience working on MAC so cannot comment on this but one thing is certain that you will not see many windows users voting for internet explorer as the fastest browser.

The IE Edge team have recently released Chakra JS runtime environment which is reportedly faster than Chome's V8 offering so there's every possibility now that the new IE is actually the fastest browser around.

 

But I still use Chome for it's developer tools.

Edge isn't so bad. I'm with Robert, though. Chrome for it's dev tools. Firefox is pretty much the same.

 

It's good to know that IE/Edge/whatever you want to call it is finally a good browser. I still remember having to get sites to work in IE6. Hell. That's what put me off becoming a front end developer.

But on the flip side we now how the issue of many competing standards frameworks and new tools being continually being released as I am sure you're aware. I quite enjoy that though, it's not without challenges like when Babel decided to separate out all of it's modules, that threw me quite a bit when everything just broke as a result.

I just used graceful degradation for old IE, those users could live without rounded corners, and in most cases without transparency effects. I think I'd have facepalmed if I would have been asked to spend time making fluff for old IE users lol

The main issues I had was not conforming to standards, lack of ES5 support, no border-box support on IE7. I am sure things were much much worse in IE6 days.

Don't think you can get a faster browser than Lynx tbh

 

But in all honesty, the marginal speed benefits of Firefox / Chrome / Edge is almost nothing. Just pick the one you prefer.

There are plenty of browser tests around but each browser also perform different on different hardware and operating systems. User settings and browser extensions installed by the user can also affect the speed. The real sinners when it comes to slow loading pages are usually not the browser vendors but us (the developers/designers of the webpages)

Most webpages are bloated, not minified and optimized enough and have more http requests than needed.

I think that Chrome is the best browser at the moment. I have complaints with the stability or speed, especially when I have tens of tabs open, but I think we are a special breed of people, while most just use a few tabs at most, they do not need a working platform on which you can work industrially. I used to work with Firefox, but they are quite behind Chrome at the moment.

Speed is definitely one of the top priorities. I'm very satisfied with Opera and Chrome is my second-rate browser.

Yes, I find Opera to be one of the fastest browsers, too.

I like Chrome the most. I find that Firefox freezes constantly. I always get a message saying that a script needs to be debugged, before Firefox stops working completely.

Mozilla Firefox used to be very famous in the past, but now users have mostly switch to Google chrome. Firefox sometimes crashes or freezes. Chrome is considered faster and better as compared to Mozilla Firefox. Chrome is rich in themes and plugins.

 

Before the launch of Microsoft Edge, Chrome was considered the best browser, but now both Edge and chrome perform best in different benchmarks.

I like Chrome because it has simple user interface, faster accessibility, Auto update feature and also freeware.

I switched to Edge from Opera Developer a few months ago. I use Chrome for testing web pages alongside other popular browsers. Sorry for the shameless plug, but there are quite a few browsers to choose.

Google Chrome is my first choice because it is very fast and powerful browser. Many people use it properly. 
Many extensions can be added to the Chrome browser. ‍So, I like it very much.

Always used Chrome, when I used Firefox it was slower only by seconds and well I.E, don't even go there haha!

The fastest web browser is Mozilla Firefox, although I favor Chrome browser over others because of its familiarity, still Mozilla is my second best option.

Google Chrome is faster for me.

Statistics says that Google Chrome is  the most used browser, accounting for more than half of all web traffic. But personally for me just because more people use a certain browser, that doesn't make it the ‘best'. It's just one measure, and there are others of course.
