davep reacted to fisicx in Building professional websiteHow much are you prepared to pay?
Without a specification we are just guessing. It could be anywhere between £1000 and £100,000

Who are you to comment on other people and say spammer. I think you have great experience in spamming. She needs some help, If you have the knowledge, kindly resolve the issue otherwise don't do comment.

davep got a reaction from Jayden J in Need a Quick Reviewhave to scroll down to get an idea of what you do. the first two sentences in the hero are so general they don't help at all. As a user i want to know what problems you're gong to solve for me it was slow to load (i'm on a fast fibreoptic wired connection) and it's too heavy (needs optimising) and don't use pngs for photographic images

davep reacted to BlueDreamer in Eye straining color schemesForget the text formatting, there's way too much animation on that page - made me queezy just scrolling!

davep got a reaction from codewareltd in Web Design feed back?definitely smells spammy why link to a page advertising services and not the homepage? I thought this line from the frontpage was funny "As Software Engineers We deliver top-notch quality that no other company can offer. "
-
davep reacted to fisicx in Web Design feed back?I agree, it's not very good at all. All you have done is chuck a load of content on the page and hope is will stick. It's not even relevant to San Antonio.
I'm not even sure you really want a review. You were just hoping for a linkdrop.
As to design - there isn't any. It's just a block of content on a poorly coded page.

davep reacted to jpeters8889 in PhotoshopPhotoshop is nowhere near as expensive as it used to be, years ago and when I was younger I couldn't afford the massive price for Photoshop and pirated it, I think I pirated every version from Photoshop 6 back in the early 2000s up until probably around 2015 when I switched to Ubuntu for a few years and Adobe don't make products for Linux.
During that time though I found https://www.photopea.com/ which is basically Photoshop but built in the browser, very powerful, and can open and save PSD files.
These days I'm on Mac and pay I think £10 a month for Photoshop and Lightroom, which is barely anything, but mainly for photography purposes rather than web design like when I was younger, but if it was still £500 or whatever it was, I'd struggle.

davep reacted to Vineet Agarwal in Digital AdvertisingYou can use Adobe Flash for high quality animated ads.

davep reacted to fisicx in "I" or "We"?If it’s just you use I. And put your name and photo on the site, it helps conversions.
-
davep reacted to fisicx in Calendar widget or something automaticA simple thing to do in php. As @davep suggests, you just need to get today’s date and display the appropriate image caption for the next meeting.
You could use JS but it’s a bit more fiddly.
A developer could do this in a couple of hours.
-
davep reacted to fisicx in Feedback on redesignYou only have 4 links in the menu so no need to hide them on a phone.
Main content needs some padding.
Why is some content right justified?
Switch to a sans-serif font.
-
davep reacted to fisicx in First job in web designHow many hours is this going to take? How much do you need to earn to pay the bills?
The amount you charge has to be greater than the money you need plus taxes, insurance, overheads etc.
Rates in some parts of the world can be $10/hour. Others can charge $500/hour.

davep reacted to fisicx in responsive web design helpTop tip. Get rid of the sidebars. Over 70% of all casual browsing is now done using a mobile phone - which means all your sidebars get pushed down to the bottom where nobody will see them.
And don't hide your maim menu. There is plenty of room on desktops and tablets to display in full. That being said. You don't need to use those CSS libraries, they are very dated and throw up a load of warning (use you W3C checker to see them).

davep got a reaction from RobertS in Customer Serviceyou can just walk away amicably or then do it for the normal price you would charge but make sure you have a contract in place, you get a deposit (1/3 or 1/2) upfront before starting, and make it clear that you're willing to do it even though you don't agree with it. don't use it in your portfolio or put your name to the project either. (this is assuming you've gone into a detailed explanation of why your way is better for THEM).

davep reacted to fisicx in Bootstrap template + scrolling sidebar code?Indeed. And there is often a defined structure to a technical document.
usually because of legal requirements.
Note: technical documentation is not the same as a user manual.
