Background - I like writing code but am not a web deisgner. I created an html website about 7 years ago. About 3 years ago I kept being told off by google for it not being mobile friendly. Decided, after njumerous recomendations, to recreate it in wordpress. Google was happy. I am not. I found it easy to create what I wanted in wp but I hate all the reliance on 3rd party elements and constant updates. I don't feel in control. I once made a tiny typo in the functions.php file and it brought down the entire website - not just a page, but the whole flippin thing. Also had a couple of updates to plugins that have caused me issues. So, I am thinking of going back…

I really wanted to be a web designer what are the skills that you needed on your first job? and tell me what I need to learn. I already know CSS3, HTML, SASS, and a bit of Javascript.

Hey Guys! I am new at this forum and web designing as well. Though I have made one website by following video tutorials but it didn't look like high tech sites especially I want to make a site like reviews and news sites. I have used WordPress, Simple Site and GoDaddy builder but now, I am looking to change the web builder. A few days ago, someone suggested this builder: Pinpage. Hi everyone, I am looking for a job as a Web Designer but have had to be learning on my own. So far I am competent in HTML and CSS, have a basic understanding of JavaScript and jQuery. I am also trying to learn about Content Management Systems such as WordPress, Squarespace and ModX. So far any work I have done I have currently pushed to GitHub as I am a bit apprehensive to pay for hosting as I have seen plenty of fees with these sites. Hey everyone, I have rediscovered my love for learning to code, used to mess about for fun when I was in my teens - mainly just copying source code and editing button images to make my own websites, not really coding but was enjoyable. New member saying hello. I only build web sites for friends and family. I have made them for a local amateur radio club, and my lawn green bowls club where I am a member. How do others who make a website for small clubs etc where no money is input, feel about the need to make it a secure web site?
