Hi guys, This is Aida, Im from Iran living in Malaysia and traveling around. Graphic designer but started self-study on html/css from 2 years ago then I found WP and loved it. Im not sure why Im not allowed to add my websites to the feedback section, so if I shouldn't post it here it's ok to be removed. Here is my first website/travel blog: http://www.persianbritadventures.com/en/ It's lots of writing and even the Oxygen theme is not my ideal theme for travel blog but I don't dare to change anything, don't want to mess with texts and all my writing effort. Any suggestion how to give it some fresh look? Its traffic also sucks, I don't know how to ge…

Morning people, Hope that you are all well. I need some advice (admins please move this if its in the wrong section). I have been given a website to do at work (my first grad job and first project) The client wants a one page website (that has been created), everything works I cant believe how powerful WordPress and the divi them actually is I'm very impressed! Ok so to the point. The website has 10 different sections with anchor links this works a treat, on one of the sections that is called "Global Distributors" this will be where the user can click on a thumbnail (of the country they are living in) and a pop up window or Lightbox will appear. This will then have all…

Hey, I'm 15 and pretty new to web design, I've been at a very basic level of coding for the past year or so in HTML and CSS, but I've decided to focus on javascript and start learning it since the past month or so. Hopefully this forum will help me to learn it, and then later on maybe I can help people as well. I will probably be asking lots of stupid questions on here so sorry! But I have to learn somehow Matt

Hi All, My name is Sam and I have just graduated with a BSc Computing degree from Leeds met. I'm an aspiring web developer starting in the area of web design, HTML/CSS, PHP for server scripts and recently learnt the basics of angularJS framework on codeAcademy. I already have bits of work coming through and would be happy to take on more for the future. Currently need help on integrating Google's reCAPTCHA V2 for a contact form. I'm unsure however if something like this reCAPTCHA is needed for a simple contact form though (probably not the right place to post it). Also is this website completely separate from thewebdesignforum.co.uk ?? Thanks and…

Hi All, first please let me apologise if I'm asking the wrong questions in the wrong forum - if so, please let me know where I should direct these questions. I am a physics teacher and want to create an educational website. it will consist of maybe 30-50 topics. individual topics will be only be available if certain other topics have been completed. the topics will include learning materials (videolectures, practice problems, simulations, ...), and an assesment that must be passed before the topic is 'complete'. I envision a contents page in the shape of a wall where the bricks in the wall are the buttons linking to the different topics. The bricks …

G'day all. My name is Eddie. I often browse through this forum when coding away in the early hours of the morning, so am looking forward to being able to communicate with others in the same profession. I'm a 27year old work-from-home father of three living in Australia, while specializing in PHP solutions I've recently made the decision to get back into not just the development aspect but the design aspect too; I very much enjoy watching a website come to life and I can see this forum and it's members being great inspiration to push on. I look forward to meeting you all, if anyone has any questions or wants to chat feel free to pm me.

Hi all. I need to start (would like to) learn web development. Im chemist and its really weak aspect in my country. So now im breaking the point. Im total noob, i never programmed anything in my life nor web designed/developed. Watch me like absolute zero about web development. I wish someone answer to me detailed (if even needed) what should i start to learn first? As long as i understand it should go HTML > CSS > Javascript and then server-sided scripting PHP and ASP.net. What do you think? Any help/tips will be helpful. Thanks, Boris.

Hi everyone, I am not from the UK but when I was searching around the web for a good web development community to join this one stood out for me because the site looked nice and modern/usable, it wasn't too large that topics got lost amongst themselves and the majority of posts I read were fairly high quality. So to the site staff, it is a great job you are doing here! Anyways, I am from Canada and recently finished studying computer engineering in university but I have been doing freelance web design for about 5 years. Within the last year or so I have been working to update my skills because I had realized that there within the past couple of years web design techn…

Hello everybody! I'm Nick Cullen and I'm currently a game developer and have been for the past 2 years in industry! I've been interested in web development for quite a while now and I don't know if this is normal but I struggle more with the front end development of websites than the actual back end! (Probably because I've been dealing with programming languages such as C++ and the like for the past 5 years). My first dive into web design happened when I started a games company in 2014 and got tasked with creating the companies website ( www.xd-studios.com if you're interested). Currently working for a different company now though, where my role is only to focus …

Hello from Toronto, Canada I'm not a fulltime designer however I have a hand in some projects from time to time. I'd say I'm more inclined to use my analytic skills figuring out technical problems as opposed to using creativity to come up with sensational designs. In any case, here is my latest project, an e-commerce store: http://www.glammo.com. Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks

Hi, my name is Garry and I'm a railway engineer - categorically NOT a developer, programmer or web designer. However despite this almost total lack of competence I run a site in my spare time - railwaysarchive.co.uk - and I'm looking to bring the site into the 21st century. So basically, I'm your worst n00b nightmare. For example, until about a month ago I thought a class was something you go to at school. So I'm hoping to learn from the community, and I may ask the odd n00b question - apologies in advance!

Just thought I'd drop by and say hello, I'm Jamie, I live in Rotherham, England, and Web Design and Development has been a hobby, and big part of my life since 2001, when at the age of 12 I first started learning HTML and making my first basic websites in Microsoft Front Page! Over the next few years I was just making basic websites for myself, and for fun, but since then I've known its what I wanted to do as a career. When I went to college in 2005 I started learning more about Web Design and computing in general and started learning CSS and PHP with MySQL, and started using Dreamweaver for creating websites. I've had a couple of jobs, but mainly in marketing…

I am a software developer with a nice experience in security and the back-end of web servers. I know NodeJS, PHP, Python and (argh) JavaEE and ASP.NET. I'm good with back-end security such as how to transmit and store passwords, user directory federation, DoS protection, content encryption and some bureaucratic stuff like security review procedures and attack response analysis. I have to deal so much with web designers, that a few years ago I decided I just HAD to learn HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript. Since I love programming in general, I added WebGL to the mix. And in order to do some practical, almost "real-world" thing, I made a stuff called theinternetmoon.com. Feel …

1. Outline skill and culture specifics. Write down all the "must-have's" the person needs to fill the position, and the "like to haves" that the ideal candidate will have. No one will be the perfect candidate, but you can come close. If you're hiring an iOS developer and he or she must have Objective C, story boarding and multi-threading, that must be evaluated during the initial call. If it would be "nice" if they knew Java for back end or sockets, but it won't be required on a daily basis, don't toss out candidates because they don't have that experience. That pickiness results in a longer hiring cycle while companies look for engineering unicorns. If you're a remote…

Hi all, I'm new to the site & fairly new to web design, learning through a combination of teaching myself & an evening class, both of which have pros & cons. I have been maintaining & 'developing' a very old site for a co-operative I'm a member of, which has taught me a bit though because it's so out of date in it's design (no CSS) there's a limit to what I can learn from it. When I have a bit more time I'm planning on building a new & more modern version. I guess I'm here to meet other designers, pick peoples' brains & eventualy have some useful stuff in mine to share with others! Maybe I'll even make some new friends Cheers, Jeff
