I recently had to re-install windows and I had backed up website files before although I didnt export the site definitions. Anyway I have uploaded the website details afterwards via dreamweaver and entered Ftp passwords and usernames for different sites.I now have lots of problems uploading updates to the existing sites.Some of files seem to upload but the site does not change on the web... On one of my sites the home page is now blank and reads http://www.yorksoulclub.com/httpdocsindex.html instead of http://www.yorksoulclub.com/index.html Any help most welcome!

Im looking to develop a business directory which is going to allow existing customers to add there websites but I need a script that will retrieve META data from the customers websites such as <title> <description> <keywords> it would nice to implement AJAX into this form but a basic FORM $_GET would be just as good. I am working for a Polish client and they want an embedded forum in Polish. I know there are free forums out there, but does anyone know of any good ones that can be embedded and are Polish? The only solutions I have so far is either to use an English one or use an iframe to link to a non-embedded Polish one.

Hey folks I've deigned a layout in fireworks but when i have been doing the slices and trying to transfer the design to dreamweaver so i can build the site but it isnt working properly. As a graphic designer by trade, I have been attempting to learn how to use Dreamweaver (coupled with a basic understanding of HTML coding) for many months. During this time I've found a long list of issues with Dreamweaver that I cannot make sense of. One such example is why it is called a WYSIWYG program - an inaccurate description as far as I can tell. For example, I create a webpage with a logo and navigation bar at the top, a flash ticker tape bar beneath, and the webpages custom content (words and images) below. Hi, I've recently started using Photoshop on their 30 day free trial and have been v impressed, so I'd now like to buy it. I wanted to ask if I would be fine to just get the CS4 version (£300) and not the Extended version (nearer £450). I'm not a sophisticated photoshopper - I'll need it for creating simple web pages or tweaking ones I've already made. Will I be able to do that kind of thing with the standard version? I bought a domain from 1and1 2days ago. I changed nameservers as I'm using another hosting company. When I uploaded a website script called elgg on my hosting account yesterday, everything was fine. I went to my website and the elgg install page was visible. But now when I go to my website, I see the 1and1 temporary page. A mate of mine who's with bt, can see elgg install page on my website. I'm with o2 and I'm seeing the 1and1 temporary page. Why is this? I'm also having problems with installing. I need settings.php file edited. Can someone please help?

Hi, I was updating a website in dreamweaver. I spent 2 hours resizing pictures for the website and then putting in the right places. When I have gone to upload the page to the website I have accidentally loaded it up as another page. IE I was updating the Dogs in Need page but uploaded it to the Rescue Info page instead of the Dogs in Need page and now I have lost all the info and pictures on the relevant page. Is there anyway I can get back the Dogs in Need page as it was before I started updating it? or is it lost forever? Hi Does anyone know of any decent software or scripts for producing customizable web forms, preferably with the ability to add anti-spam? I'm trying to find an easier way of putting together forms for my sites. I've coded a number myself but it's extremely time-consuming and my knowledge of PHP is not good enough to fix any bugs. I am having problems putting flash swf videos files in Dreamweaver CS3. I insert the video file into Dreamweaver via media, Flash and it appears and plays when I test it on my page, but when I preview the page in the browser on my website the video does not play and I get a blank screen where the video should be. Hey, I'm trawling the internet to find whether the following is possible, hopefully someone here can help me out? On my website I'd like to update the 'news' section pretty frequently, I don't really want to have to get into the code and ftp files every time I want to do it. I read somewhere that it was possible to add code so that you can update the content 'in browser'? Is this true? And is it possible with jQuery? Hello, Can someone advise me on this probaly simple technique! I have a layer of a rectangle (with layer styles) - and i want to delete the bottom and top of the rectangle. So I have just the middle of the rectangle left. i have tried adding a new layer above, and using the selection tool to delete but with no luck. How do I do this? Hope you understand what I mean?

Hi Everyone. I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction. I'm putting together a minimal-ish html website, but I want to be able to publish just a couple of blog post/news articles each week (with comments) I know I could of used wordpress etc, but I wanted something small and fast as I don't publish a lot and will only have the articles on one page of the site.. Hey, I've been making some fairly basic sites on Dreamweaver MX for a couple of years now - I'm going to upgrade to either Dreamweaver CS4 or Microsoft Expression 3 and was hoping someone could give me some insight on how useful the Dreamweaver widgits/spry features are? So far as I can see this is one of the biggest differences between the two packages, the ability to add blogs and other 'interactive' features to my pages would certainly make them look more 'professional', I was just wondering whether anyone had any thoughts on whether it was worth the extra cash? Hi. I am looking for a plugin for Dreamweaver to enable me to easily create CSS styled menus. I have tried pluginlab and webassist - these seem the most prominent in the marketplace. Pluginlab is excellent but when I increase the width of my main tabs, the flyouts become distorted. Their online support is non-existent and their support phone number does not work, so I'm back to the drawing board. Any ideas? I need a plugin because I don't have the depth of knowledge or time to create a menu from scratch - and why should I when these plugins are so easy to use and look amazing - when they work. Hello, I want to know how can I drag items in Dreamweaver, I try to do that by clicking on items but they don't move, maybe because I used to write all the codes and don't use tools. For example I want to put 2 item near each other but I don't know how to do it in css and margin doesn't do it. I think I can do it just by dragging the item. I have dual screen both home and work and in both cases I have the same proplems take a tyipical adobe program like photoshop, i may be working in one screen with software set to maximise but whenever i want to alter color open a new file create a new doc etc etc etc I end up with the dialog boxes popping up in the ohter screen. Each product has its own quirky version of this kind of behavior eg dreamweaver is quite reasonablely behaved until i start uploading downloading files and indesign plays up in a similar way to ps. I have had to change file permissions for some files to either 0777 or 0766. After, I get this message saying I have to change file permissions when I have. Hi I have been trying to get to grips with Photoshop so that I can start to design my site and have been trying to follow this tutorial but i cannot even get past step 5 the status bar as the instructions do not seem to work for me. I am running on a mac CS4. I am getting stuck here, I can get up to the select a line right under the shape we created. Then where it says fill the selection with #959595 using Alt + Backspace it doesn't seem to do anything. When using photoshop I find that the images dop not appear as they should. They seem to have a cream tint to them. When I view the image as save for web it looks fine, the cream tint is gone. When I save the image it is fine. It only seems to occur when I am working on the image. Has anybody else had this issue.

Hello, EDIT: Also, I am placing a .png image(transp bg) into the artboard which has high quality, but when i reduce the size of it, the edges looks a little jaggedy - How can I retain the high quality finish when reducing the image size? Hello chaps, I've got a problem with my header and footer PNGs, although I used websafe colouring in AI - when viewing on Safari I get this problem: As you can see, where I have trimmed the edges of these - the colours are different from the CSS, although both are the same hex-code. Is there a solution? Or do some websafe colours not work with other browsers? Thanks!
