  4. No, i'm not saying confrontation is the way to spark the right type of debate. That would be ridiculous and flawed logic, especially being in an industry were the best examples are set with happy living and working environments. Nothing lost in translation when I confronted Ben with the whole "wanka", I stand by it. His decisions are inconsiderate, agree or not. I observed the impact and now some of the posts here have confirmed it's not just me. This thread is now a combination of tit for tat and some points worth debating. Maybe my tact could have been a little more fun loving, but why would I want to do that in a community i've given a fair amount to for it only to bite me at first chance? Fully accept that this is not the opinion of all, or even the majority but in a forum environment the feelings are generally heard. Just seems like this feeling fell on deaf ears before it even surfaced. The only problem with the looking to hire section was spam posts.
  5. Yeah good points but again tone, context etc some things get lost in translation. Bad example coming up... Say you had a box in which you kept a spare jumper and a pair of socks that you forgot about for most of the year. You had a friend come over in the Winter who had only a thin t-shirt and his socks were wet from the walk to your place. If someone had put a lock on that box, how useful was the jumper to your friend?
  6. I don't know him personally and quite possibly given his small affiliations he's doing okie which will afford him the cushion to make mistakes. But as i've pointed out, he failed here... with the specific examples above. None the less, the thread is getting close to a flame war and that's pointless for us all.
  7. Yeh I feel with the spirit of open forum and community debate before going fee paying these items should have been put to the community. If i've missed that standard practice please point me to those posts. Well, your opinion is your own and you're entitled to that.
  8. Mmm turnip? Round, vegetable which provided nourishment? Gone-yersel-wee-chap Nah, but you're clearly self-absorbed.
  9. Mike, all of my words are considered. Being active in the forum you should understand a whole host of things get lost in translation, tone, context and the bigger picture. Regardless, there were very specific points in the op which were a double edge sword in which i'm surprised some more experienced members failed to be receptive to. I'll see this thread through but wont be making any more new topics or joining in. Why common-as-muck Alzer is worried about that is beyond me.
  10. Well there were valid points to address, rather than stay about throwing insults felt it was important to feedback on those that were valid. None of your points were valid, but don't worry they were considered.
  11. Okie to address a few issues here. The additional forum of "looking to hire" was purely a bonus. Yes, it was something not required here, but a nice addition to those who felt it useful. It wasn't my only stream of work, and if you look at the posts I've made you'll find community discussion / contributions far out weigh work related. However with this bonus aspect of the site helping a few secure some projects to work on, my assessment (insult me or not) is that Ben decided he'd like a slice of that pie. So that's all fine and dandy, you're right... for maintaining a web site he's entitled to claim a return from it. With that the fee paying model was introducted (£1.99) as outlined above. Thing is, he's given it no thought whatsoever, implemented purely as a bolt on and failed miserably. Look at the activity in that bonus area of the site and you'll notice it's dropped massively. So, what should he do? Strangle the rest of us as he executes his malformed plan? Well no that's not good enough if you ask me, he's tried to re-invent the wheel that the rest of already invented. But hey you're all completely right and it's his site. The Heart Internet issue, again if you look at my previous topics you'll find a topic that was helpful to many. So much so I receive a few emails asking for recommendations... It's not the case of everyone, Heart can suit some and never run into issues. It's all written in the fore-mentioned article. As for anything outside of addressing these points, all very rude, untimely and insulting posts. Could easily play that game too but to be honest there's been tougher challenges in Saturday nights munchie box.
  12. Oh you're far too late for that.
  13. That's right, continue with the information you got here guys. See how content you are in life with your clearly adequate levels of consideration.
  14. The "Looking to hire" area of this web site is now completely inactive. Clearly Bens master plan to create a fee paying system here to list jobs has back fired. That, coupled with the shameless advertising for Heart Internet has given me good reason to leave. Clearly the master administrator for this site couldn't give a monkeys about the community who has enabled him to make some money from. On that note, see you all later. Ben, you're a wanka. From one struggling web designer to another.

  19. It was not long ago, it's probably not in their best interest to allow it through.... or maybe it is? The comment points out flaws, but it's not like i'm a guy who just has it in for them. I wouldn't have used them for 2 years otherwise. But with their banners hanging above us on this community forum it's important that the issues are rectified. If they are a good company, which I believe they are for many they will identify these issues and more to suit the customers. A lot of people misinterpret my confrontational attitude for anger, yeah initially it is but ultimately it's for good reason.

  21. Thought i'd update this. Initially I spent around 1 week with clients having IPS tags transferred to the name HEARTINTERNET allowing for some more DNS control. Now with all fore-mentioned threads these domains DNS is managed via the heart control panel. Naturally I made the changes for most domains and have now been picking up the slack for some other domains. The changes to the new nameservers were made 3 days ago, yes that's 72 hours before i've complained. Looks like not one, not two but all 3 domains I made these changes with have yet to pass over to the new server. This is a standard process bare in mind, something that all web designers do frequently. If they try and pass the blame onto me it really proves what a bunch of ***** these guys really are. *Edit Yes they did try and pass the blame, apparently updating the A records nameservers is not enough to point to the file server but you have to go and find a second nameserver area. Meaning that the ns entires as A records might as well not be listed simply because you find it elsewhere. Image attached to illustrate
