Whilst I agree with many of the arguments here, I think its far to easy to look back and be judgemental and arrogant about sites long passed. What we have now is an evolution of technology and thought processes about GUI design and usability. Sometimes its nice to be a little retro.

Hi Thanks for this. It was perfect. I was up and running with it in about 20 mins. Its really cool. It is simple and well documented. Yesterday I must have spent about 2+ hours trying to find a decent one and I could not believe how difficult it was. All the solutions were over the top. I even downloaded one from envato and it was useless. So once again thankyou and thanks to everyone that contributed to the thread.

Yes very easy. Below all your other style sheets add the following <!--[if IE 6]>LINK TO STYLE SHHET<![endif]--> Then this style sheets kicks in on IE6 and you can make further changes to fix IE6

Hi Thanks for your reply. This <embed src="yourmusic.mid" width=25 height=25 autostart=false repeat=true loop=true> </embed> method is really user-unfriendly. It pops up a message in IE saying a active x component is required. It also displays the media player which I do not want.

Thanks for your great reply. You discussed the merits of having music but also contributed to a potential answer to the actual question.

It is not a necessity, its a request from the client. Could I please stress to anyone questioning the whole whole point of having music in the first place, that I have had this discussion with the client and its not a question anymore of whether there should be music on the site. There will be music on the site and I need to find out the easiest way of doing this.

That may be true but the "paying" customer thinks otherwise.

Hi I need some background music on my website. Its a standard website, using xhtml and css. What I want is for a .mp3 file to play in the background after the page loads. I suspect it will be some kind of flash media player, which would be fine. I am really struggling to find something. Any reccomendations?

Hi I have a client who has a domain name of the type .org . The company that used to look after his domain and website have gone bust. The domain name is in his name but we do not know how to get back control of it. If it was a .co.uk name I would have advised him to go to nominet. Who do I advise he go to in this intant?

Thats brilliant. Thanks for that. Basically I want to be able to code my own javascript/Jquery. Understand it enough to build my own plugins instead of looking for other peoples stuff and copying that. I think as the web moves forward with HTML 5, javascript is going to become more important. What do you think?

Hi All I have been given the task of learning Javascript/Jquery. I will start learning javascript and then move onto jQuery. I already have limited knowledge of both and have used them in my sites to some degree. The question is: To what extent/depth do I look into javascript before I make the jump to JQuery. At what point when learning javascript do I say "right I have enough raw javascript knowledge, now its time to move to JQuery". When ever you read articles its either Javascript only or its Jquery.

I stopped reading at 60 when I eralised I need to get back to work. This isreally cool and I will be reading it all soon. Hav e a few q.s on some of them, think could be elaborated on such as why you do not reccomend gifs. Thanks
