OK, I think that my re-design is now complete (apart from some transparency issues with IE6, will iron those out soon). Any further comments from anybody?

Thanks for all of your feedback guys. I'm happy with the eye images, but have had a little play around with the fonts etc. I think that the site is now 99% complete. :-)

I was feeling pretty confident about the look and feel of my site's re-design..... and then I clicked on this link! What an amazing job you've done here. As Wizley said in the first reply, it conveys the subject matter perfectly. I don't think that it could be any better! First-class piece of work, my friend!

Well, I think that at 1:33am that's enough tinkering for one night! I think that I've got the layout and theme spot on now (I'm happy with it anyway). Tomorrow will be copy day! (as in, I'll be working on the copy!).

Thanks for that. With regards the SEO, I'm not really too upset about losing that to be honest. I anticipate that about 1% of any work would be generated via Google etc. Most of it will be word of mouth as it is such a competitive market - that's what I've found up until now anyway.

It's a little hard to judge without seeing it up with some content in. It does look a tad too simple to my mind which a portfolio site shouldn't be. I'm not saying that portfolio sites shouldn't be simple, it's just this design kind of smacks of "I can't be bothered" (I don't mean that to sound as harsh as it possibly does) - your portfolio site should showcase you skills really, and I don't think that you'd be doing yourself justice with such a simple design as this. That's my two-penneth anyway. Lee

Hi Scaz, Thanks for that. Yes, I am on a wide screen monitor. I'll perhaps do as you suggest and center it rather than having it as liquid and see how it looks. I really like the site. It certainly fits in with it's subject matter. A definite improvement over version 1 (which isn't half bad either!). I do agree with the comment about the horizontal menu though, I think it needs something extra but can't put my finger on it.... On the whole, great work.

I really like it. I would just get somebody to proof read it though as you do have some typo's in there. I especially like your logo - very eye-catching. Nice one.

Excellent advice!! (it's PSP X2 btw). The reason why the top nav is cut-off is that the anchor link is too far down - I'll fix that later. If you remove the anchor from the url, it should display (but the bottom will be cut off). Click Here I do obviously have a long long long way to go, but, despite the constructive criticism thus far, I feel as though I do want to pursue this idea. In the end, of course, I will need to cater for those that have javascript switched off, but for the time-being, I'm quite excited by what I've managed to do in a few hours. I bought PSP X2 at the weekend and have a learning curve there. Thanks once more, for all of your comments. I really do appreciate them.

Hi all, Obviously there are some issues with it at present. It does display properly for me in IE7, Safari and FF3, so I'll need to go away and do some more thorough testing. Thanks for your input thus far - opened my eyes a little. I'll post it back up when it's more stable. Thanks again.

Hi all, I've decided to re-design my website at long last. The current effort was thrown together at the last minute and is really bad. I've been playing around with mootools and have come up with the following after a few hours work today. Clicky I've not had time to fully optimise the images as yet, but will do so as much as I can before releasing it. Anyway, any comments and suggestions would be most welcome. TIA.

Hi all, I'm working on a C# ASP.NET application at the moment. In one of my pages, I have a GridView contained within an update panel. Also, there is a RadioButtonList that post's back and updates the contents of the grid view depending upon the option selected. In one of the GridView columns resides a link, the target of which is populated during the GridView bind event. The link opens a page via Greybox. Now, when the page loads first time around, the links work as they should, opening in a Greybox popup. However, if I do a partial postback (by clicking one of the radio buttons), the Greybox functionality is lost and clicking the link in the GridView redirects the entire page rather than opening the target page in the Greybox popup. If I remove the UpdatePanel from the page, it all works fine. Has anybody else had this problem? Any ideas on how to resolve it? TIA Lee

The first thing that I would say is get somebody to proof read your copy. 1. Values is spelt incorrectly on the navigation bar. 2. Scratch is spelt incorrectly in the first paragraph. 3. The phrase "do delay, pack a box today" ?? In addition, the bottom of your paragraphs are being chopped off and the home page does not validate. It does have potential though!

Hi Eris, When I went a few years back, we stayed in the Marriot Springhill Suites. Very nice complex but a tad expensive (we went out for a wedding). We've just booked to go for three weeks next August (2009) and are renting a villa on the Terre Verde resort. I can get the details to you later on if you're interested (I'm still at work at the moment). I love Florida, and cannot wait to get back!

You weren't rude at all Cabbage, but have put a well-reasoned point across in a non-argumentative fashion. Of course, C# can be used for web-programming too, in the guise of ASP.NET, although I'd suggest that's more for web-application programming than for bog-standard web design.

As a backup, I would say learn C# or C++. There WILL always be a need for programmers. Maybe then you could focus on game design. That way you'd get make something that looks great, plays great and has a great deal of tech stuff in the backend.
