  1. Thanks very much for the constructive feedback. Yes, the green background colour is a bit striking isn't it. I wanted to have the site reflect the colours in the logo. I'll tone it down a tad and see how that looks. notbanksy - great idea about the nested lists. I'll definately do that. Many thanks.
  2. Hi all, My Vets project is nearly finished. I'm just waiting on a couple of pictures (for the staff page) and I need to do the SEO. Just thought I'd post it up for you guys to rip to shreds or generally comment upon. www.hjssolutions.com/sites/orchard. A couple of pages don't validate at the moment, but they're easiliy fixed. I've not tested it recently in FF as it keeps hanging at the moment (on all sites, not just this one), so I guess I'll need to reinstall it.
  3. Just a quick observation....I put my postcode in (NG19 ...), which is in the Mansfield area.....I got results back from Norwich. Not really very local to me. I'm sure that's just a glitch.
  4. I certainly wouldn't want my IP Address plastered all over the FAQs page!
  5. Hi there, I really like the font choice that you've made and it's colour makes a nice contrast with the dark background. One CSS thing, if I may....it might be worth giving your classes more meaningful names (rather than style119, style61 etc). If you have to come back to the site after a time away from coding it, you might have trouble remebering what those classes do. Oh, and the use of tables in your markup for layout purposes is a no-no. I also agree with the comments re the text alignment. Other than that, I really like what you've done.
  6. Hi all, The Vets website is coming along. Just waiting for the last of the content from the client now.... Any thought or suggestions would be very welcome. Many thanks. http://www.hjssolutions.com/sites/orchard

*pootles into the bar, looking sad as he has to stay at work tonight until 19:30 as he is off to play footy afterwards and it makes no sense to go home first* I think I'll have a pint of Guinness first please. The ruby red is a meal in a glass and I'm damn hungry!
  8. Would you sit through Maria Carey's entire back catalogue for £88.36?
  9. *shakes head in disappointed fashion*
  10. Would you support Tottenham for £1000?

I don't think that this can be done in a single SQL statement. You'll have to use a loop within a procedure, methinks:- 1. Get an array of years with a SELECT DISTINCT..... 2. Loop through the array with a SELECT TOP 10 FROM ..... WHERE Year=:currentIndex, type of command. 3. Add the results from each loop into another array/cursor and return that. I'll see if there is another way using pure SQL when I get a few minutes.....
  12. Just downloaded Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus to my iPod Touch - now rocking back and forth at my desk at work to it with a big grin on my face!! What songs make you smile and why?
  13. OK people, I've got the the referrals page done for my vets project. http://www.hjssolutions.com/Sites/Orchard/Referrals.htm. Can I please have some feedback on it and the site in general...I'm still waiting for the majority of the content from the client, but I'm quite happy with the structure of it. This is kinda my first real attempt at a site for a paying client. TIA.

Hope so. They have a quarterly newsletter and quite a high turnover of staff and a few promotions, so we'll see how busy all of that keeps me. I have a feeling though, that they'll be happy with the Bronze option, but fingers crossed. It's up to me to sell it to them I suppose - I really need that iMac!

Dizi, I don't know to be honest. This project is my first proper paying client, so I wasn't sure how much to pitch modifactions at. In the end I came up with three options:- 1. Bronze Mainteance - £50 per page, ad-hoc, published within 3 days. 2. Silver - £75 per page, ad-hoc, published within 24 hours. 3. Gold - £2K unlimited changes for a year. One of the reasons for the Gold plan is that I need update my hardware qutie quickly (my laptop is 5 years old, doesn't work on the battery - I have changed it - and switches itself off when it gets too hot!) and would prefer to put it through the business. I might be selling myself short, but I fugure short-term pain for long-term gain. Once I've got my hardware issues sorted out, I'll review that pricing structure.

lol@Rob! I just need the Veterinary Centre that I'm doing a site for at the moment to go for my Gold Maintenance plan (£2K for a years worth of unlimited modifications) and I'm there!!

Nice one! Top drawer that mate. don't get me started on Youth Football coaching, however. I took my son (he'll be 7 in July) to his first proper football course last week. The first thing that the (so-called) FA affiliated and FA qualified coach said to all the kids was "Who wants to win lots of trophies?". That's the problem with football in England, its ALL about winning games at any cost rather than developing technique and skills work. They did about 20 minutes of dribbling with the ball and then were straight into 6 a-sides for the rest of the hour! If coaches worked more on technique and skills, results would follow.
