Are my pricings too low?
It seems to my mind that you've under-charged and sold yourself a little short here and would echo Bluedreamers comments above. EDIT: As for what I charge, well, I charge a flat-fee for the initial design and setting up process. I'm still learning the ropes in this game and as such, a lot of my time is spent learning new techniques, which obviously takes me longer to produce good work (hopefully!). I'd feel uncomfortable charging by the hour in this respect because it's not up to my client to pay for my learning time. I agree a fee with the client based upon the type of site that they require and the number of pages within it. Once the site is up and running, I then charge by the hour for maintenance as I will be comfortable changing the existing pages and feel that this is better value for money for my clients. HTH.

How many of you guys are full-time freelancers?
Ditto. I work full-time as a web applications developer, writing asp.net apps in C#. I kind of fell into freelancing by designing a site for the sister of one of my work colleagues (probably a common story that). I'd love to go full-time freelance, but I have a large mortagage and a six year-old's Yu Gi Oh habit to fund!

iMac Advice
I could still use my existing laptop for that. UPDATE: The vets project is finished and I'm just awaiting for them to sign-off the final copy. Unfortunately, I doubt if my Gold Maintenance plan sounds very appealing to them so I'm going to have to put a deposit down on the iMac and do a buy now pay later for the balance. However, I'm hoping that the monthly hosting fee that I'm charging them may cover most of the monthly payments for that. I've been stalking the 24" in PCWorld for a while now. In fact, the staff there have started making me cups of tea.

What's your most fav part of your work?
I'm a C# developer and regularly sneak some funny comments into my code. It helps to distract my colleagues from laughing AT my code!

Personally, I think that the best show to come out of the states is The Wire. Top class.

I think Spain might actually do it this year. However, I'll not be watching. Depressed.

Fireworks
Hi all, Can anybody recommend a good solid book for Fireworks MX? Graphics manipulation is my weakest area and I think it may be due to the fact that I know very lttle about Fireworks other than the very basic stuff. For example, if I have a photo and I want to cut the foreground image out of it and place it on a pure white background, how do I do that and maintain a good quality outline of the foreground subject. Is this even possible using Fireworks? So, if anybody can point me in the direction of a good book, I'd be very grateful. TIA.

Heroes and Lost are best things on telly. Well, certainly now that I'd Do Anything has ended.

Lost
I really like 24, but found myself getting bored by about episode 14 or 15 - admittedly I only watched seasons 2, 3 and 4.

I feel for you. I've had a lifetime of pain and suffering supporting West Ham. It really saddens me to think of the team we could've had were it not for our idiot chairman (not the current one or the previous one, but the one before that). Joe Cole, Michael Carrick, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Glen Johnson were all products of our youth system. Add to that Jermain Defoe (admittedly we poached him from Charlton) and that's the nucleus for a hell of a side.

uk site on usa server
Yes, I'll do that, Jem. It's only a couple of quid for a .co.uk and I have a reseller account with Clook, so I can host there without incurring extra costs.

Indeed. Apparently there are going to be seven seasons altogether, so there's a lot more to come yet! I hope that Mr Eko comes back in one way or another. Maybe the black smoke just knocked him out for a while. He was a great character.

The new ultimate code..
I think this is what Oracle is built on.

Season 4 of LOST ended on Sunday with a two-hour spectacular. I love it and can't wait for Season 5 to arrive. My wife hates it. What's your take on it?

Grainy Images
Although you need to be aware that IE6 and earlier doesn't support transparency in png files automatically. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/294714

uk site on usa server
Is Rawkes hosted on Clook, Rob? I seem to remember you recommending them in another thread somewhere. Apologies, if I've got that wrong. I only ask because I've got a .com going live on Clook in the near future. I aksed my clients which domain they wanted to register and they asked for a .com rather than a .co .uk address. I'm hoping that this won't affect the SEO too much.

My latest website
I really like the site. One thing that I think the site would benefit from, in my humblest of opinions, is to shadowbox the clothing gallery page instead of having each image open in a new window.

Fooooooottttbbbballllll !
I'm a Hammers fan. Good to see us having 4 youth team products playing in the Champs League final the other day. Oh, and we won the World Cup in '66.

What's everyones Web Design Essentials?
OK. 1. iPod Touch 2. Dreamweaver code-view 3. Fireworks 4. iStock 5. O'Reilly's CSS Definitive Guide 5 things I need:- 1. New laptop (it dies when I've got more than about four programs running, but it is 5 years old, bless it). 2. Shiny new iMac 24" 3. Comfortable chair in the home-office! 4. Update my website (it's awful!). 5. Get new client (which will hopefully follow on from number 4).

Is This Text Clear Enough To Read?
hi Evis, I've just tried to enlarge the text again (i'm using IE7 at the moment) and it all works ok. Did you change something recently to stop it breaking out of the div? Anyways, it works now. nice one.
