hi there, i'm new to webdesign and self taught so quite limited in what i do, but just put together this new site

i'd just like some feedback on the general look of the site please and anything i could add to better it or if there's any real errors in it's layout, navigation etc

also i'm thinking of changing the orange colours to various shades of green. i will however put a matching skin on the advice forum once i've decided on a base colour.

once the business gets moving i'l be adding videos of fitness sessions and a gallery of images

I think the site might look better if it was centered horizontally.

The site does not feel quite finished, the silver background behind the header looks a bit untidy and botched, I think it needs to be much smoother. But it is a good start.

You changed it again! Only thing i can say for now is making it centered and use CSS, will comment in more depth later.

might be a silly question (yes i'm limited in my design knowledge) but how do i do this? i've designed this in an online wizard then tweaked the html files to suit what i want. which file will control the whole layout of the page?

I'm not a professional but as I understand you need to change each html file of your website by putting all your content between<center> </center> tags. E.g.: <body>

<center>...... </center>

</body> :)

Use CSS to center, its a longer process but a lot better.

my site isn't built using ccs and doesn't have a style sheet, its all html

i'm assuming i can't just paste the ccs coding into the html page, i have to place a link to a style sheet somewhere and paste the ccs code into that sheet?

i've managed to shift the page to the centre using a large table surrounding everything, but my drop out menus have moved with the page and also my background image (the black line with the shaddow fade) needs to be edited to fit which could cause problems

Tables are not good coding, it would benefit a lot more using CSS as a way to structure your website.

 

You can use style tags and paste it into the html document, although it is better to load it externally from a CSS document.

ok this has took me a few hours but turned out to be a simple answer,

 

i trying loads of different methods (trial and error really) i found this to work

i just added in the aligin code. hopefully this will serve the purpose i need it too. i also edited the ba101.gif bg file to match so i kept my black line and shaddow on the outide.

 

one problem that is really bugging me though, the pop out menu needs to be moved. can anyone tell from the sourcecode what file is in control of this pop out menu? i just need to shift the pop outs to the right by about 95px so it matches

Quickie from me (no time!)... you've got some errors in the code which are mostly to do with nesting going wrong and you still need to use "&" in the meta data too.

It's looking much better "love the green foot", first thing to do is just move the main body text a bit to the right as it's too close to the navigation and looks unbalanced.

I'm sure folks will be along to give you more advice! :D

i would not use lime green on grey like that.. try electric blur or t-mobile pink/magenta.. and i would re-do your header and use photoshop save for web feature to save a higher quality image.

i've changed the site design once again. i think i'm going to stick with this one.

any errors of bugs you can spot would be helpful and any feedback on how i can improve the site would be great thanks

My thoughts: you must have worked very hard on the site. It looks completely different to how it used to look. I think the design now is excellent. Very well done.

Like I said on msn I love the new design, you have done great to get the hang of css and good luck with it :)

I really like it. I would just get somebody to proof read it though as you do have some typo's in there.

I especially like your logo - very eye-catching.

IMHO You have used to much drop shadow on the logo of the foot. I also don't like the green used. The rest of the site looks great its just the logo which for me destroys the image of the site...

 

Sorry to sound so harsh but if you can fix that then you will have a stunning website.
