  1. I like Behance. Dribbble is tough, still can't get an invite.
  2. On mac, you have Final cut pro as the video editing tool. I think some people use Motion which is like an extension of it for 3D. But I think Maya is still great when it comes to 3D. I don't know if you can use zbrush for video.
  3. 1. How many hours do you work per day? (e.g. 9am-5pm) My ideal time is 9pm t0 6am, so I can talk with our US/Canadian clients. But in reality what is happening is I check my email most of my waking hours and do marketing from 8pm to 7am. Our designers work from 9pm to 7am. Our senior designer works from 10 pm to 12 noon or more. 2. Do you work Monday-Friday, or during the weekend as well? We work Monday-Saturday. 3. How many people work in your office and how many in your company overall? Besides me, we have one marketer, 1 senior designer and 2 junior designer. Planning on getting another one. All our developers work at their home. 4. Can you work from home, in addition to working in the office? We work from a home office. But me and the senior designer do work at home when it's not office hours. 5. What software do you use (e.g. Dreamweaver, Photoshop, etc…) Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Note++ 6. Do you get to have a summer (or winter) vacation, and if yes, how long does it last? We don't have vacation unless it's Christmas and New year. 7. What is the salary range for the graphic designers and for the developers in your company (e.g. £30,000 – £35,000 per annum)? 8. What was required of you to get this particular job (e.g. University degree, Web design course attendance, portfolio of web sites you’ve done, etc…) All of us are college graduates, but we don't base the hiring with diploma. We need to see a portfolio. Or if the person can be easily trained. 9. If English is not your native language, were you required to show a certificate (such as the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English) proving your fluency in English? Not needed in our office, or when showing our clients our portfolio. 10. Where is your web design company located (e.g. London, UK; Los Angeles, US, etc…) We are located in Manila, Philippines.
  4. Before quitting your job, maybbe you should try coding part time and see how that goes.
  5. Welcome to the forum. We encourage you to ask lots of questions
  6. Hello and welcome to the community. You will enjoy your time here.
  7. Wow with the red. What I like here that it can be easily navigated. Just don't know what to do with the extremely long search bar. And seems you page is a long one, why not add a simple nav menu at the footer?
  8. Wordpress and download some themes and edit them. Wordpress is easy to use. Or if you are pertaining to designing a website, you would probably need Photoshop and Dreamweaver.
  9. Web design business? I guess you better partner with a designer as well. Better to concentrate on one specialty, and I think yours is coding.
  10. Too many things going on. I don't know where to look first or at when scrolling down. I think you need more call to action button on where you want your viewers to click. You have a different arrow for More Destinations and More Hotels. And maybe a better sign in/registration box would be better than a one liner text. The footer could use a better re-layout. But I love the 2 column style and the cleanliness of the site.
  11. Hi

Digital-Cows replied to tomrichards's topic in General Chat
    Welcome welcome.
  12. I listen to music like opera, easy listening & country when working and browsing forums. But I need total silence when I am writing something like a proposal to a client or when I am reading an article.
  13. When I was looking for a designer, I too was confused when developer started sending in their resumes. Some developer considers themselves as web designer. Because they consider doing websites in html/css as design. As far as I knew then, when you say designer, you design graphics, not design them with code.
  14. Welcome to the forum! Great intro. Hope you enjoy your stay here.
  15. Responsive designs just make a website fit in whatever device you are using. I think OP's problem is that the site he is looking at is small. Small text and small images. I heard font size 14 are being used now for reading convenience.
  16. That green reminds me of an avocado. But it works with the brown. I think you need a better icons for the wood carving, turning and crafts. You know what would help a lot for your site? Textures. Add some textures for the BG and it will pop the colors more.
  17. If you just like developing, it is better if you get a designer to partner with. Regarding designing in photoshop and not looking the same when coded, the designer must have a general idea of how things are coded. What styles can be coded and what can't be coded. What images are great for page optimization and whatnot.
  18. I came here to give my opinion, but I saw colorschemer, my suggestion can't beat that. Thanks for that!
  19. My expertise is design. So what I'm saying are comments from our clients. When they want a secured CMS, wordpress is the least of all the choices. Mostly they asked for Drupal or Joomla.
  20. That business book do sounds interesting since I do need to study on how to run a business better. Thanks for that tip.
  21. Welcome to the forum Goldenballz I like your name, it makes me smile.
  22. Welcome to the forum. Lots of people here from different places, so you will definitely feel right at home here
  23. Welcome to the forum. As you will see in your stay that this is a great forum. Enjoy your stay
  24. Aside from the prior comments, it look nice. Like the colors. Maybe add a little border for the images, Like the image Sheena's place. The white of the image is the same color of the background. Nice work
  25. Yeap, left light version is better.
