I am planning to start an e-commerce store. Is it better to have everything in-house (building up my own team) or should I outsource it. "My Budget it not too big"

If your budget is "not big" how would you pay salaries if you had an in-house team? It can take years to build an online business up to the stage where you are making enough revenue.

 

Unless you have funding you'd probably be best to start small and grow as and when it makes business sense to do so, outsource first then bring things in house if it makes sense.

When you say everything in house... do you mean the development team? or other areas of the business such as customer service, stock etc....

If your budget is low than you hire an eCommerce (free lancer) developer to develop your site. From that you manage with your budget and also develop your shopping cart.

Hey jatinguliani, I'm kind of in the same boat, except I think I'm earlier in this phase than you are. My plan is to have an 'In-house" ecommerce solution... which means I'll be handling things.

Basically, I'd like to set up website where folks can by prints, but I'm butting my head against the wallwith some issues. I want a platform that's easy to use, but flexible enough for me to grow with it. It also has to have some sort of ecommerce solution that you can add... only problem is I'm NOT a techie. Here's what I've found so far, may be useful to you too.

 

Blogger - I loved Blogger in the past. It's simple to use and it's owned by Google. However, I can't help but feel it's been neglected over the past 3 years in favor of other projects and I don't feel comfortable starting a business on the platform.
WordPress - I feel ashamed to say it, but I've never used WordPress. Everyone I've spoken to has said it's super flexible and good for SEO. They seem to be the best free option and I sort of think it's a good idea to start out on them.

Squarespace - I heard about this site listening to a podcast. They have gorgeous template designs and I tried the 2 week free trial. Requires more legwork than the other two, but they also integrate with Stripe (a payment processor). Which brings me to my next issue...

Payment processing. Basically, I'd like to offer as wide a variety of payment options as possible. PayPal, credit cards, bitcoin, litecoin, Skrills/Moneybookers. I would ideally like to accept payments from anywhere in the world too. I'm leaning towards Stripe because they seem to be super easy to integrate with Squarespace. BUT, as far as I can tell, they don't accept PayPal. I want to accept bitcoin and litecoin payments too, but based on what I've heard, Stripe doesn't like/doesn't support bitcoin.

What I'd like to know is, is it possible to accept bitcoin payments on your website using Stripe? If not, can you add another payment processor, so that if a customer selects "bitcoin" to pay at checkout, they're routed to a separate payment processor for bitcoin? The only two bitcoin payment processors I've found are Bitpay and Gocoin. Unfortunately, it looks like you have to have at least a little knowledge of coding in order to integrate them. As I said, ideally I'd like something that's a bit more idiot proof.

you should looking for freelancer to start your business and work according to your budget.I hope magento is very easy to operate ,a lot of plugin are present .Just install them and do work

Why don't you try to build your e-commerce website with ebay or Amazon web store if your budget is too big. They also will give you high benefit and will listed your website, website products to their store and with associated website that you can't do with open CMS website and very hard to upload it on the amazon web store. One of my friend built his website with Amazon webstore and now he is getting GBP22,000 sales in a month.
