Morning Routine

Featured Replies

I'm bored and waiting for the hair dryer before I go out so I figured I'd pass the time.

What's your morning routine? We've all got one no matter how much we try to deny it and everyone seems to do things completely differently so I figure this could be the worlds most boring fun thread :p.

Anyway mine is as follows

Wake up whenever (being a student with 1 day a week in lectures doesn't really give me a proper "bed time" :pp.

Hit snooze on BBC Radio 2 (laugh all you want) about 5 times.

Crawl out of bed and make tea/cereal at 11 usually.

Get a shower

Dry/Straighten (laugh all you want again :pp) my hair

Walk to uni or start doing work at home

Up between 0530 and 0730, depending on my mood.

Cigarette, coffee, cigarette, coffee, cigarette.

Shower/shave

Cigarette, coffee, cigarette, coffee

Start work :)

Wake up at 7:20 (with no snooze presses :( )

have a quick breakfast,

get ready for work

Out the door by 7:45

Get train at 7:55 (if it is on time) (also I get the train as that means a 10 min train ride or an hour drive (if lucky) and no worries about finding a parking space)

Get into work for about 8:20 or if it is a nice day will walk the longer way to prolong the getting to work so maybe 8:45 if that is the case.

Work...

I am to a uni student but I am saving money by not living on campus but that does leave me with rather annoying bros and sisters, but I wake up at 9 have breakfast till 10 then I start my work I would usually spend an hour per project, that will take me up to about 1.30 then I have lunch its usually spaghetti with tuna or something else then, back to work around 2.30 work till 9 then I had the guitar or read up on some Web design till about 11.30 then bed at 12.

My Days are not usually like this some time I have work or home group but this would be an usually Monday and Tuesday Day

Up at 6.00,

Shower and dress,

Do hair and make up,

First cup of tea at about 7.00.

Wake kids and 7.30

Serve brekkie,

nag them to make sure they have dressed/brushed teeth/got their bags packed

another cuppa at 8.30

then out the door at 8.45 to take them to school.

Ouch .

Up at whatever time his lordship (son of 21 months) dictates - usually between 4 and 6 am.

Deal with his pressies he has accumulated in the night.

Have a bath while he drops his random toys in with me / tortures the cat.

Go downstairs put telly on give Adam some fruit feed cat make toast / crumpets / porridge / peppermint tea.

Switch on laptop and see what you lot are up to.

Deal with more Adam pant pressies after breakfast and get dressed and ready for the day ahead. Time 8 - 9am.

About 8:45AM - 9:00AM: Wake up

try to work the rest of the day.

Do you not have college or a job or anything?

6.20 BBC World Service comes on the clock radio (no Radio 4 in Malta - well not on clock radios anyway)

Sometime before 7 - shave, shower

Sometime before 7.30 - jeans, shirt, etc.

Sometime before 8 - juice, coffee or green tea, cigarette, check email, Facebook, this place, etc.

Sometime before 8.30 - into the car, 10 min drive to work along the back roads.

Of course if I have one of my frequent bouts of insomnia, then simply subtract about 2 hours from most of the above.

"morning"....? never heard of it :)

Welcome to my world :pp.

Of course if I have one of my frequent bouts of insomnia, then simply subtract about 2 hours from most of the above.

Hence the 2 hour window in my routine lol. Insomnia is a b!t%h huh?

"morning"....? never heard of it :)

Scottt - tell me about it. It just seems random - sometimes I'm still snoring over the radio at 7, sometimes I'm staring at the ceiling at 4am.

In my case it's called middle age. I doubt you have that excuse :D

1030am - look into doing some stuff get side tracked by WDF

11am - start work.

ok yea so thats kinda detailed,

0600 - the kids are up

0605 - argue with wife to see who gets up with kids,

0610 - get up with kids after losing argument,

0611 - smoke first cigarette in back garden while kids watch tv,

0615 - boil kettle,

0620 - have another cigarette with fresh coffee while kids watch tv,

0625 - make breakfast for kids and boil kettle again,

0630 - chat to eldest about who would win in a fight between Power Rangers and Ben10,

0700 - wash morning pots making as much noise as possible so that the wife wakes up,

0710 - have a great big poo :),

0711 - the wife is awake (either through noise or stench),

0720 - have breakfast with the wife,

0740 - get shaved (after finding fresh razor because wife has used my new one for her legs, pits, anus etc), showered, dressed,

0800 - take wife to work, kids to school and childminders and return home ready for work :)

0630 - chat to eldest about who would win in a fight between Power Rangers and Ben10,

That is too funny. If notmrsbanksy ever shaves her anus with my razor, I shall file for a divorce!

OK, here's mine

Wake up anywhere between 5.45 and 9.00 depending on my shift at work.

+5 mins - let dogs out to landscape my garden with brown 'rocks', make cup of tea.

+10 mins - drink tea, shout at dogs to shut up, feed dogs,

+20 mins - coach self into submission, try to stay awake, shout at dogs to f@*king shut up again

+30 mins - eat breakfast unless its still before 7, in which case repeat step 4

+40 mins - dress for work, spend 2 futile minutes trying to tame hair

+50 mins - Saddle up bicycle and ride to bus stop

+1hr 10mins - Catch bus, and spend 40 mins regretting my life/ work balance.

From here the rest of the morning (and day) is spent tolerating the insane babblings of home computer users (tech support) :)

What is this word "routine"?

This morning I woke up at 6:30AM on a bunk bed in a train carriage with about 60 Chinese people - out of my window was a UNESCO-listed world heritage site.

The morning before I woke up at 11AM with a hangover - out of my window was one of Beijing's bustling Hutongs.

The morning before that I went to bed at 5AM after watching a live band.

Tomorrow morning I will wake on another train and then go see some terracotta warriors.

I'm sure I brush my teeth, shower and shave, get dressed etc. so must of seen thousands of sinks and showers!

Aaaargh.... I had to get up in the a.m. today....

08.30 open eyes

08.30 and 5 seconds close eyes again

09.01 get up put kettle on

09.02 SSS (!) and get dressed

09.27 put kettle on again make coffee

09.41 put kettle on again more coffee

09.51 on the M1 driving to Essex to see some peeps at a design agency I do work for and to meet a client

11.10 arrive, drink coffee, chat

11.30 meeting with client

13.43 client leaves

13.44 head for the pub for a free lunch

15.15 back to the office, coffee, chat

16.03 on my way home...

I surprised none of the boys have something rude in their routine (or maybe they do, but they are just not saying ;) )

Ahem, what about notbanksy... "0710 - have a great big poo"

I'm sure that's slightly rude in some quarters..... it was certainly way more information than I needed :D

Hey! That wasn't me! I was merely quoting Elan... Although I did include dog poo in my post. Is that too much information too? :D

Trust Helen to bring the tone of the thread down to 'erotic' considerations :pp Honestly, you can't find a good mod anywhere these days!

Hmmm, ok if you say so dear! Actually, this is how a morning really goes (but only on your days off precious, before you take a look at this and have a hissy fit!:

9.00am - Make Mr Notbanksy up with a nice cup of tea and say 'good morning' to which he replies 'uhhhhhhhhhhhgruntgrunt'

9.30am - Shout upstairs 'Are you awake yet love? Your tea will go cold' to which he replies 'oh yes! I'm awake'

10.00am - Shout upstairs again...'Love! Have you fallen asleep again?' response 'no love, thanks for the tea'

10.30am - go upstairs to find a full cup of tea on the bedside table, and a fast asleep Mr. Notbanksy.

10.45am - make him another cup of tea, but this time, don't take it upstairs and shout 'If you want another ******* cup of tea you can bloody well come down here and get it!'

11.00am - Mr. Notbanksy comes downstairs having had a hair fight with the night-time gorilla.

11.15am - Honours me with a symphony in farts, (as if it isn't enough that I've been listening to them the whole night already!)

11.19am - Decides it's a great idea to watch Reeves and Mortimer's Le Corbusier et Papin on Youtube, and spends a further 20 minutes laughing his head off about it, which leads to more farting....

well, that's the general kind of thing mornings are about at our house...

:give_rose: Ah, my darling, king of farts xxxx

Lies! All of it. Well, all except the farting; I NEVER get up after 9am anymore goddammit!

Ok I have two different routines.

1. This is my going to uni routine (3 days a week)

8.00 alarm goes off, so I hit snooze and chuck my phone to other side of from room.

8:09 alarm goes off again so up I get, turn the computer on check e-mail, twitter, website analytics, sometimes forums.

8.30ish the triple S (Sh1t, shower & shave).

9.00ish dry my hair and get dressed

9.20ish tea and toast

9.40ish get in car and drive to uni.

Of course all the above depends if I have been out the night before if so I never shave, nor do I bother to turn the computer and then I bitch and moan at uni all day about my bad head.

2. Days off uni and the weekend

10ish I get up check computer.

10.30ish the triple S (Sh1t, shower & shave).

11.00ish dry my hair and get dressed

11.20ish tea and toast

11.40ish work until I get everything done and then the rest of the day is mine!

Again if I had been out the night before you can add another hour onto that and miss the shave lol.

06:15 - Alarm goes off

06:20 - alarm goes off again, I have a shower.

06:30 - get out of shower

06:35 - 07:00 : Make breakfast, prepare/pack lunch

07:10 leave flat

07:20 - 07:25 : Get 07:24 train.

07:24 - 07:58 : doze/sleep/daydream on train.

07:58 Arrive in Leeds

08:20 Arrive at work.

09:00 Start work.

:give_rose: Ah, my darling, king of farts xxxx

There's nowt wrong with a good fart!

In fact, I pride myself on my ability to play the first four notes from Beethoven's Symphony No.5 part 1.

*You've got to be very careful with the fourth note as sometimes it can leave a slight 'scuff'*

Ah... you always bring a smile to my face :D

Though I reckon my OH could give you a run for your money...... he has good control!

Though I reckon my OH could give you a run for your money...... he has good control!

Clench control is crucial!!

For any aspiring trouser musicians, here are a couple of top tips:

1.Start off very carefully. Never try to run before you can walk :D

2. Don't wear light coloured combat trousers (speaking from experience here)

3. Don't become blasé and try to show off to your friends after 15 pints of lager and a trip to the local curry house!

(it was so bad, my friend was sick in the taxi)

My usual routine when starting Uni for a 9am lecture:

Get woken at 7:30am by alarm.

Press snooze on alarm and fall asleep again.

end up waking up at 8:30am.

decide I really need to get up, yet close my eyes and fall asleep again.

wake up at 10am (1 hour late for Uni).

decide to drag myself out of bed, yet take half an hour to actually do it.

Shower, brush teeth, get dressed & leave house.

Get to uni at around 11:30am and find I've already missed the majority of my lectures/seminars.

Meet Uni mates and go eat at some unhealthy takeaway across the road.

Realising that there's really nothing left to do, I say my goodbyes and go back home.

As you can see, I have such productive days...

...

0630 - chat to eldest about who would win in a fight between Power Rangers and Ben10,

...

Ben10 would.... DUH!? He's amazing!

Of course Ben10 would. Especially in the guise of wildmutt or Ghostfreak!

As a side note, I have the Ben10 theme song as my ringtone :D

Mine changes depending on how much freelance work I've got to do. But the basic idea is:

07:00 - Wake up and go for a shower.

07:20 - Get ready for work.

07:30 - Breakfast, cup of tea, check emails.

08:30 - Leave for work.

09:00 - Get to work. Check work emails & RSS feeds.

09:00 - Start working.

12:00 - Have lunch

17:00 - Finish work and go home.

17:30 - Get home, have dinner.

18:30 - Do some freelance work/overtime

20:30 - Go to gym (or keep doing work depending on how much I've got to do).

21:30 - Home/Shower/More work (or watch TV).

23:30 - Bed.

It's the commute I hate... I'm getting the train at 10pm tomorrow night and won't arrive until 1pm the following day - that's an arse-numbing 15 hours on the train.

So my 'routine' for tomorrow will be:

22:00 - get on wrong carriage of train (as directed by the insistent, yet stupid guards) most likely whilst it's trying to pull out

22:00-22:10 - crash through umpteen carriages in the dark to right one

22:11 - swap ticket for card (don't ask)

22:12-22:30 - attempt to get my 6'3" frame into a middle bunk and find space for my bag

22:31-04:30 - swear loudly at Chinese who are snoring or smoking or shouting or standing on my head or slamming doors etc.

04:31-07:29 - get some fitful sleep

0730 - awoken by blinding fluorescent lights coming on

07:31-09:00 - try to ignore full bladder's insistence on visiting toilets that every other fibre in my being really doesn't want to go

09:01-09:10 - you don't want to know

09:11-12:59 - play cards, drink tea and play "count the power station" whilst plotting the death of hippy friends who think an eco light bulb makes a difference to the world.

13:00 - swap card back for ticket, give ticket to guard for exit permit to hand-over at the exit.

Pretty similar to a few days lately, so I consider anything that happens more than once a routine!

I woudln't have been suprised if wizely wrote:

1. Jump out of a plane flying at 10000 feet in the air

2. Assemble a parachute mid-drop using only a napkin, a laptop and words

3. Land in a terrorist militant camp

4. Kill gaurds

5. Steal breakfast

6. Walk to the next plane

Heheh.

In the morning I sort of wake up, hit snooze a few times, eventually drag myself out of bed. Shower, make some breakfast, usually english muffins, some instant miso soup (the good stuff), a cup of milk, a cup of coffee.. Then I go to school earily because thats the only way I get a ride to avoid walking in sub zero temperatures. Sit around for 35 minutes, sometimes come on WDF. Go to Communication Technology class, then Chemistry, then walk home in the snow.. Then my day really starts :p
