  4. I used this recently. http://www.recoding.it/wp-content/uploads/demos/showcase-demo.htm Very simple to implement. Give me a yell if you want a hand. Hope this helps
  5. Is this what you mean? This for connecting.. http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/Facebook_Connect_Tutorial1 or sharing http://www.facebook.com/facebook-widgets/share.php

I'm glad it's not just me then. Wizely - I don't expect personal responses necessarily just some form or input via thread or otherwise. It is not me cold calling someone during their tea or lunchtime to see if they want a new fitted kitchen in their brand new house. I am responding to someone else's need. I just think that as a community we as users ought to (sorry if grammar is rubbish Wizely!) be the ones to form the right atmosphere. If everybody just says; that's just the way the world rolls, it is acceptable. Anyway thanks for your responses guys

Things are acceptable if people say they are and vice versa. The people make the forum. Obviously I am the only one then.

I'm not taking it personally but i don't think it's acceptable. Am I the only one?
  9. Today is officially Summer and the longest day. And sunny! Any more?

Ok. I've said this before but it really gets my goat when people post for help / to hire / whatever then never respond to posts or pm's after. To me it's just plain rude. I know we have plus one on posts (when did that appear?) as well as the star rating on the profile but I think this is a whole other thing. Anyway, rather than name or shame those that haven't responded, I would like to thank gadgetgirl for a response to a pm I sent her. Well done and please can other people take this as an example? Also thank you to those people that have responded to me in the past. You know who you are. SHAME on the others! Rant over.
  11. Going to this one next sat.... not everyone's cuppa but it's in my blood! http://uptonjazz.co.uk/

  13. I am still learning about this but my experience to date has I think been harder because everything I have done to date has been for friends or family and of course distraction from the task at hand is very easy. Generally either a long telephone conversation to them talking through what they want or face to face if possible doing the same. I have some questions I put together early on to try and help but lol generally they seem to want to tell me what they think is important. I make short notes where possible identifying the keypoints. I have found with a couple of jobs recently this has needed doing again to re-evaluate needs and expectations as they realise they want more features etc added and the process begins to feel disorganised. Project Bubble has helped me out massively for the last project as you can list projects, tasks, collaborators, contacts, add comments and to do's - and share it all with either your client or your 'collaborators'. It helps to make sure you are on the same page and adds structure to the process when your client is a little bit erratic and doesn't know where to go first! It does definitely depend on the client though; my first two really had very little involvement (their choice) - I just showed them design / layout ideas etc and they said yes or no.
  14. DOH please ignore me lol
  15. I created a a website using this technique a while back. If you pm me I'll send you a linky and you can take a look at the code on the site. I presume you have firebug? Beg your pardon - just looked at your images. I used fixed images. Maybe this is what you need? http://www.alistapart.com/articles/slidingdoors/
  16. MOdx is simple simple simple to make your own design fit so why use a template? http://codingpad.maryspad.com/2009/03/28/building-a-website-with-modx-for-newbies-part-1-introduction/ All you need to gat started
  17. You don't need to touch php to get your design up and rolling in modx at all. Of course the offer is there; I got where I am with help from my mates on here and so it's only fair I try and help someone else! Initially it is just a case of converting your design into a template using your tool of choice (ie in this case CMS). After you have that (which won't take you long) you can learn how to develop your site further using the more advanced features. Please don't be scared! I can relate to what you are saying but really don't worry!!!
  18. I have used Dropbox in the past and plan to for a current project; Would def recommend to others!
