Hey, less of the 'old man', you're not such a spring chicken yourself!! :D

I do enjoy a good muffin as long as it isn't a 'Mcmuffin' :bad:

My age is irrelevant, I'm not the one dredging up photos of muffin the mule from my personal collection! :pp

(I don't even know who/what muffin the mule is/was.... honest!)

That would be because McMuffins are NOT edible, and should definitely NOT be classed as food stuffs!

So there's absolutely no distinction from a flat dense muffin, compared to a sugar filled fluffy one?!!

Not really, other than where you buy them from, and the fact that the "muffin cake" is usually purchased by flavour, where as the "english muffin" is just purchased as a muffin lol

It really depends on the context, what you've put as an english muffin at the start is only called a muffin in McDonalds as far as I know, otherwise I'd just call it a bun (unless the flour does something special to it to make it a muffin). A muffin to me is a cake.

Muffins and buns are completely different lol.

The method used to bake them is what differentiates the two, as well as the ingredients used :)

I have a cracking muffin recipe if you want it lol

I would call the top one a breakfast muffin......

The other a sweet muffin.

Breakfast muffins appear to have bypassed me :o i thought it was a badly made crumpet :D

Do you get crumpets over the pond? *slurps tea*

They're both just called muffins here. You can get a larger, flatter version of the bread muffin called oven-bottom muffin, but that's still just a muffin lol. Context determines which muffin your talking about.

I think you fellas need some sort of muffin naming standart. We'll call it the MNS.

Muffin cake makes sense, I like that name. I'll start using it around here to mess with people's heads.

I can get them at any large grocery store, but donuts, "muffin cakes" are the normal. People will suspect you of tea and british pride if you have crumpets.

My friend's sister moved to London recently, and brought back a candy called "Millions". I wish they had that here!!!

Do you know the Muffin Man? Lives over on Drury Lane?

Ask him, he's the god damn expert. :pp

MILLIONS!!!, oh i do love them, a high school favourite.

Not had them in years, they used to be 24p in tesco, now there like 55p. I don't know how supermarkets can increase prices by over 100%.

They've done that to so many things i buy ):

and theirs nothing wrong with good ol' tea and crumpets. Respecting the heritage :p

Now I really have an urge for crumpets, I haven't had one in quite some time, probably more than a year.

Let me ask you a question about Canadian Bacon...

I have crumpets every morning for breakfast. McVities (i think) are on special offer in sainsburys at the mo so buy a few packs. Put em in the freezer....defrost setting on toaster. VOILA!

Great with melty marg and blueberry jam...criky I'm hungry now :p

But for me - muffin is the cake variety.
