This is my take on the situation:
 
In previous years, there have been what are known as web designers and web developers. I've given a description of both roles above. I believe it's been deemed that these job roles weren't descriptive or informative enough, therefore the names have been altered from web designer to front-end web developer, and from web developer to back-end web developer.
 
A front-end web developer is someone who works on the 'front end'. Therefore anything seen by the user. A back-end web developer is one who works with code that affects things behind the scenes.
 
the terms 'web designer' and 'web developer' aren't really used as much any more, in favour of the more descriptive front/back end developer.
 
Hope that clears things up.

Web designers are considered those who handle the tasks such as design, (x)html/css coding and maintenance of a site. Developers are considered those that work with languages such as PHP/ASP etc, stuff that works behind the scenes.
 
Therefore, I believe you would call yourself a web designer, regardless of how good your design skills may be currently.

For future reference, state in your contract the number of amends you'll be allowing the client and the timeframe in which you expect to get these completed. Then state that any needed after this will be entirely down to them.

I can't believe the whole 'Macs make you a better designer' joke is still going .
 
I do actually believe that a lot of the software on Macs are much more intuitive than their Windows counterparts. There isn't really anything that comes to Coda or a number of other Mac apps, with Windows equivalents.
 
That is my totally unbiased opinion.
 
And I almost forgot, they make you a better designer.
