I'm working with a fashion designer at the moment, and I'm working on a new business card & website.

I was just wondering, do you guys put your Twitter on your business card? I added it onto her business card, and she questioned it.

I haven't at the moment because my business card were printed before Twitter existed :)

Not sure whether I would add my my own, but for a client that uses social media as a major promotional/communication tool I'd say it's as important as having their site URL on the card.

Again, it all depends on the client, their business, and the type of content their feed is full of.

Our business cards don't have anything more than contact details (phone, e-mail) and our website, but thats because our content as a service provider is fairly static.

For clients who are in a fast moving industry such as fashion, however, there could be a great deal of benefit to this. Many potential connections may want to follow the Twitter feed of the organisation, as Twitter is perfect for sharing quick, concise thoughts and messages, and perhaps photos. For many it can almost have a "scrapbook" type function, where in addition to communicating with their audience, content that the account holder has an interest in can be shared very rapidly.

Ultimately though, if the client is not happy with the decision, that's that.

Hope this is of some help.

Jon

My own business cards contain my twitter username. It is a valid, and growing, form of contact so I don't see why not?

I hear about this first time. Twitter on the business card.. Wow, it is not easy for everyone.. I just think about the person and the business, what a great effect they have! 8).gif' alt=':seas8:'>

That's a very good idea. Twitter is not my primary social network but I provide my VK account on business cards so that people would easily find and follow me. You might also add Facebook as an option because it's number one.

I'm, a bit 'meh' twitter-wise. It's gtreat to touch base with other developers and promote my Joomla side, but I can't honestly say I've met many 'real life folk', i.e. small business owners that actually use it.

I don't think you are using it to its full potential then.

Do you partake in any networking hours (#sussexhour, #kenthour etc), that is full to the brim with local, small businesses. We indulge in these networking hours as often as possible, and usually wind up with more followers (all local businesses, so therefor a target market) and make some great business connections. In fact, just last Friday we met up with another local agency after meeting on twitter.

Although those "spamhours" ;) do my head in, I certainly think they can help with getting local businesses interested in what you do. The only issue I have with them is that everyone is selling to everyone, instead of it being a buyers marketplace.

From my industry, the people I want to target don't take part in these sorts of things either. But brand awareness etc can be great.

Our social media guy is on twitter constantly and he's picked up some amazing meetings from it, from just being continually infront of people. It's more of an example and people want that.

It's always good to go with the trend. These days as social media is the main platform for every business to reach out to their customers it's a good idea to show your social links on your business card.

If you are going to use your social pages such as Twitter on business cards and printed media in general then to maximize the effect you need to have somebody constantly monitoring them for an instant response. Even a simple 'Thank you for your comment I will have xxxx contact you asap!' or 'I like the idea' type of response gets noticed when it's instant.

I would put twitter on a clients card, I have just done one, with twitter on and client was happy.

Personally, id always ask first, some people are more traditional some arn't

I don't it is more facebook that I care about but hey we should just put as many as we can on, because not everyone likes certain social networks, some are twitter, some facebook etc etc

My twitter username is on mine, I think social media as a whole is used so much for businesses nowadays that it makes sense to me. Personal preference though i guess :)

For Startups and freelancers I think it's great, as long as you consider your posts to reinforce your personal brand. Ex. if you mostly post about bad refereeing in last Sunday's game, may want to leave it off since it could hurt your brand.

Might aswel - Every other business is and it gives you a chance to get social.

Its good to go with trend :) I must say your visiting card should look " social media friendly "

Along with listing a variety of social sites on your card, you may also choose to use social media icons to add a level of familiarity and recognizability to your links.

It depends what your client uses twitter for. If her twitter feed is relevant to the people she gives the cards to, then definitely. If her last post was 6 months ago and not business focused then definitely not.

I use my fb name and youtube channel name in my business card.As per my suggestion ,i dont think its necessary.
