It's currently quite fashionable for women to dress/look more masculine (busy eyebrows are en vogue, and there are big divides in clothing between "girly" dresses and very masculine cuts for trousers and shirts). I think the rumours are potentially born out of the fact that she subscribes quite heavily (is even a leader) in this trend.. she plays on the possible masculinity of her features - it's quite intriguing & oddly attractive for both sexes and that can be quite scary for some. So there is a back lash. That's my 2p anyway.

Tone it down a little Andy. Why does it rile you so much that she's popular at the moment? The woman is a walking, talking, singing brand. That's her job, that's how you make money in pop culture. She's obviously in it for the fame and money, but I still don't understand why that makes her a puppet. Without promotion and management from her label she'd have been a flop, simple as. Unfortunately you have to be weird and unique in this climate to get heard.

Andy listens to her music on his iPod all the time, he told me so the other day actually.

But this is the point Rob, she isnt weird and she isn't unique. The only people who think she is are the same boring chemistry students who wear iron maden tshirts and basically buy into everything and hate change. She has an album full of very similar sounding songs so the people who dislike anything new end up liking 1 song they will like the whole album.

 

Pop songs arent about song writing its about the production, does she produce all her own stuff?
