Peartree got a reaction from welshhuw in Business Cards in Photoshop? If you're flattening the image then you don't need to convert to shape
When I say flatten, I mean exactly that - you flatten all the Photoshop layers into one single image.
If you flatten the image first by selecting all the layers (shift + click) and then right clicking and selecting 'Flatten Image' and then go save as a PDF (like you have already nailed on the head).
That should be it

Peartree got a reaction from DigitalSquid in Business Cards in Photoshop?I don't think it really matters for business cards, I've seen people use both. As long as your working with CMYK and at 300DPI then you should be fine quality wise (I've never experienced any problems using PS for business cards). With Illustrator or Photoshop, 9 times out of 10 you would output as a flattened PDF anyway for print

Peartree got a reaction from smoothonline in your competitorsmy immediate area there are only one or two... Our biggest is called Dentons but they actually own Dentons Directory so its no surprise as they can advertise for free.
Hosting wise our main competitors on here are Wesh and CS New Media (However I know both personally and are very very nice people)

Peartree got a reaction from traxor in purchasing hosting for clientsYou could purchase individual hosting accounts however if you purchase a reseller account you don't need to ask for their passwords to manage their websites / provide updates. With a reseller account you can just 'drop in' to their webspace saving a lot of hassle.
The other option is to order an account with no reseller privs and just addon the domains to your account (using the addon domain feature in cpanel anyway) however your clients wont have any control over their site apart from FTP Access.

Peartree got a reaction from smoothonline in Weighing up my optionsI have sent you a PM and am more than happy to call to give advise on what your options are. You should however ideally be looking at a VPS because of the flexibility.

Peartree got a reaction from lazytycoon in Help me to choose hosting companyHi Pete,
I don't agree that I am making biased remarks just to promote my own company. As posted in my signature "My views and opinions are my own and in no way do they represent the company I work for..."
If there mission strategy is to not oversell then why do they advertise Unlimited Disc Space and Bandwidth...
Instead would it not be wise to change it to sommet like 'Endless Disc Space' if they will top it up after a client goes over say 50GB space.
Lets say their uk server has around has 250GB worth of storage, 2000GB Transfer and is priced at £120 a month. Based on the current exchange rate of $ - £, $3.95 (midi plan) = £2.40 per month per account... You then take off PayPal fees of 3.4% + 20p giving you a total of: £2.11 per midi account per month.
To break even they would need to sell 57 accounts... but wait... The plan comes with a listed 50GB of space... So to provide the true service they say they can, they would need 2850 GB of space per server...
They could only fit 5 accounts on the server before they are overselling on disc. The income from those 5 clients being 10.55 per month... Thats a 109.45 loss unless they oversell...
In this case they cannot afford not to oversell... Even with bigger drives of say 500, 750GB they would have to oversell to break even.

Peartree got a reaction from morgano in Peartree V3Hi Guys,
Have just this minute finished the Peartree v3 layouts and was wondering your opinions on each
http://www.peartreeuk.com - Nothing much has changed here - only the content (thanks Wizely) and the navigation still a big improvement me thinks.
http://hosting.peartreeuk.com - Totally new look... I wanted to differentiate between the two sites because some users got a tad confused over which site they were on... I also think it looks much more professional
My special thanks goes to our own Chris who did the main site and John (Wizely) for doing the main site content
