  4. I'm using the 1140px Grid System (http://cssgrid.net/) and jQuery ScrollTo (http://archive.plugins.jquery.com/project/ScrollTo) If I remove the scollTO plugin the responsive design will work with no issues, but as soon as the jQuery is back in the responsive design stops working. http://bluesplat.co.uk/clients/3square/ I think the issue is because of the way the jQuery plugin works with the wrap it needs to be 3 times the size of each "slide" and when it starts being adjusted in, because of the fixed width it's not being responsive. I'm really bad at explaining things so if you have a look at the source you should understand what I'm trying to say. I would really appreciate any help at all.

  6. Surely the actual anchor text would be the most important part as the title tag is used mainly for accessibility and has a low SEO rating...
  7. I would like to bump this thread to see if anyone else has any views on this? I've been text-indent: -999px for many years and have I've never had any problems with being penalized in the search engines.
  8. You're onto something with that! I must look into it further to see how I would go about it. Another reason for the not giving them the "not nice" URL is that the paths don't seem to be pointing to the right place, they seem to be trying to find the domain name that hasn't got the DNS point to the VPS as of yet. Example would be I installed Joomla on the clients control panel as they requested it, when I click site preview there is no styling at all, I click the link for the admin interface and it redirect to the 404 page on their domain name. I've been trying to solve this problem all afternoon and it's driving me insane. Seems to be only on the hosting packages that don't have the DNS setup on their domains.
  9. I know within plesk under the control panel for a domain you can click on site preview and it will pop the site up, but the url it gives isn't very nice. Some customers only have hosting setup without a domain as of yet as their domains are currently in use. Is there a way I could set it up so that they have clientname.myname.co.uk until they switch the DNS on their domain to point to my VPS?
  10. Anytime an order is completed (whether through the site or PayPal) I need it to be sent automatically to the distributor without any human interaction. The client wants to cut the job completely out for the secretary/admin person, and also it means the distributor doesn't have to manually enter it into their system either. I'm going to take a random guess here that this is going to be something completely bespoke and coded from the ground up?
  11. I have a client who deals internationally and has a product for sale in multiple countries. I'm designing a new website for them at the moment, but at our last meeting they dropped some more functionality that they want added. The new system I'm hoping to implement in the UK is: WordPress build, with Cart 66 eCommerce system. The payments will run through PayPal Pro, and the product distribution is run through a separate fulfillment company. At present the CSV file is pulled from PayPal and emailed to them manually, and manually inputted at their end. The fulfillment company have existing XML specifications to allow automatic ordering. I'm looking to integrate this with Cart66 to provide a seamless transaction. There is no existing way of doing this from our research into Cart 66. We would happily use another system, but have struggled to find one with existing XML integration, it all seems to be bespoke. As far as i can see, I need a way of sending the order details from our database, to the fulfillment company's database, and this will need to be a bespoke bit of code. On a secondary point, I'm also developing the US version, which uses Amazon (FBA) for its fulfillment, and i would ideally like this to work the same way (but this may be harder to do as Amazon is a pain in the arse!). I am hoping that this makes perfect sense to you...
  12. turned out to be a jQuery conflict. Problem resolved
  13. After removing the flash completely from the page, it still seems to be crashing so obviously the problem is elsewhere.
  14. Hey guys, Doing the usual testing of a website in all the different browsers operating systems etc etc Sorted most of the problems except for Windows Vista running IE8. When I try load a certain page which has a flash video on it, the browser IE8 crashes and restarts with the page loading correctly however the tab says that it has just recovered this tab. I've tried to duplicate the problem on Windows XP running IE8 but it work's perfectly. The website is built using HTML/CSS/Jquery/Wordpress The flash version is the latest version, wordpress is the latest version, everything is running as is. Again every other browser operating system combination works fine apart from Vista & IE8. I can't provide a working link to the page due to privacy reasons. But any help would be greatly appreciated!!

  16. Here in work they insist on using Illustrator to design all websites! Annoys the hell out of me as I have always used Photoshop and have never really touched on Illustrator. I've been trying to get them to use Photoshop, but no such luck lol
  17. Hey Sogo, Read through the whole thread and a few of your links aren't working no longer. Would you be able to update the links to active ones if possible? Thanks!!
  18. I'm the main developer in my office, I'm looking after 2 VPS's I'm doing the SEO on all sites, all my sites are developed using wordpress and they aren't just basic wordpress sites either. I've been in the job now 11 months and I'm earning 16k per year. Yes I would like to add a few K's onto that, but I'm happy in my job, I'm just glad to be in a job!
