Hi People, Just something I am actually quite proud of and wanted to share, I think some of you might have heard of the website as it's quite big! Did anyone spot what Shamvil did there? Notice the instructions to find and click his result in the SE. What he is trying to do is increase his click-through-rate in the search engine, an increase in the CTR should have a positive effect on his rankings, makes sense as well from Google, if a results gets clicked more then others then it must be more relevant then the rest, therefore Google wanting to give it's searchers the best results it can it will move the results up.

Sup J, Erm to be honest not a lot really, web design essex did jump to page 2 for a bit but naturally has moved back to page 3, not surprised as I haven't worked on really. I have moved to page 1, position 2 for 'Web Design Cambridge' which I did actually spend a little time doing, it's been solid for about 2 months now. I will come back to the 'web design essex' term, but have been thinking about going after bigger fish if im honest (UK wide terms).

The only benefit from buying facebook likes is it gives the impression to potential 'real' followers you already have a fan base and they must be following you for a reason - people like to follow what others are following, its a herd mentality. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herd_mentality That being said, it doesn't take a lot of effort to get the 'real' followers following from the word go, I personally would stay away from buying any lists because your end up with bad mixed in with the good - even if I had 20,000 real followers and 5,000 fake followers it would bother me. So... little budget in Facebook advertising, a nicely crafted advert and a well maintained Facebook page will go a long way. No need to buy fake followers, the learning curve to start from scratch will put you in a good position further down the line.

You could try hooking the Author tag to your posts from Google+, the word on the street is author tags in results increase your CTR and CTR comes into play with the Algo. http://searchengineland.com/google-adds-authorship-rich-snippet-markup-80455 And I understand why your annoyed and rightfully so, this is actually something Google is trying to clear up by introducing things like the Author tag. One other thing you could try is pushing social buttons, you might be able to pick up a few over the month and these social signals should also help.

If it helps look at my domain idream-design.co.uk I rank for 'web design cambridge' position 2 and I was going for 'web design essex' which currently sits page 2 position 9 (I will be coming back to this, got side tracked with a project) and position 1 for 'iDream Design'. It's not all about the domain, if you do the right kind of SEO you can take a hyped domain to position 1. Hopefully that takes some worry off your hands.

I will just add this tool is very aggressive, use with caution. If you slip up and disavow a link you actually wanted, your in for a ride to get it back.

Like J said, New sites have boost, then put where they should be. So I wouldn't say you have slipped, more you have had a boost and now back. You might find in a month or so, you start to climb naturally without doing any work. It does seem time plays a part.

Erm I've seen a quite big jump regarding that term 'web design Essex'. As some of you know I was on page 5, position 1 and I've seen a jump to page 3, position 4. I didn't push that through either. One thing I do a lot is support any keyword with heavy amounts of content, so if you have seen a drop whats the level of content you got on page? Is it a thin page.
