I am starting to get into website making and ad-selling, locally at first but globally later with one big website project. Will start my own company (or charitable organization) soon to manage all that and i was wondering... How popular a website should be to, for example, make 500 EUR of profit through ads. I know, i know, it all depends on how well the ads are placed, what they contain and how they fit into website theme. But generally speaking. If all these parameters are at average levels, how many (happy) visitors you think are required for it? Or is it better to sell some in-website services through Paypal?

 

All thoughts and opinions on matter are welcome.

We don't use Adsense, we use AdWords so I haven't a clue what the click values are - so just using a simple example:

 

What's the average value of the click in your Adsense account, what's the average CTR for your market sector and how many visitors does that equate to you needing?

 

10p per click, 2% CTR and 10,000 visits a month = £10.20 profit, per month.

Thank you for your reply. What about other type of banners, besides google-ads? Do companies rent the banner places nowadays? Here, in Estonia, most of the websites rent banner places to other companies directly and its time dependent, not click. There is a monthly fee for each banner size and placement. Is this method thinkable globally or they just dont do that?

Google do the same thing on the display networks.

 

When it comes to banner adverts the question you need to ask is why would my company want to advertise on your website when we can advertise on Google, even on a limited budget, to millions of people every day?

I would say you'd need to be getting at least 600,000 unique visitors (not hits) per month.

You would get a bit more then 500 EUR for 600,000 monthly visits, at least 2000 EURO and that's not knowing what your doing.

Thank you... i will surely not know what im doing, im still a beginner at this. But yeah, my first goal would be 500EUR profits from my future website and from what you said, it should be achievable with 200,000 visits (unique visits or total?).
