Thanks Jason, the project is still very early and I have done basic SEO for local businesses etc, but nothing on this sort of scale. With regards to industry, very much like yelp. Budget, unknown at this point - still exploring if it is a viable option for them. As above, they dont have a site yet - this is what they;re looking to start. Incentives like monetary? Or something... Sorry this isnt my forte but I do want to learn and really dont know even where to start..

SEO is essentially about bringing users to your site using keywords/key phrases, location and so forth. My question how would you start people reviewing on a review site thats initially empty? Would you pay people to write reviews (i dont agree with this and its unethical). What steps would you take to seo this site nation-wide?

Hi there I hope someone can help. A friend of mine is looking to start out as a web designer - unfortunately I cant help her with my business (Im struggling for work as it is). Im looking for ideas for her to find an apprentice/junior role at a web design agency. So far with no luck, cant seem to find any information to local apprentiship schemes. They all seem to be too far for commute. She has photoshop and HTML/CSS skills (from positions in web design jobs she done abroad), she is finding it difficult as she doesnt have any known qualifications in the UK. What is her best route? Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thanks for your response. It makes perfect sense. What concerns me is communicating information to the customers which may not be accurate. Yes, you can check with the client if the info you intent to publish is correct, but how many times can you do this before the client sees you as a pest?

Im not trying to be funny, but you will get to a point where you are spending all of your time researching and learning a field of a client, then comes another client in a different field - and bam! you are over worked - to the point where its almost impossible to do anything BUT researching.

Quick (but very valid) question time. So you, as an SEO, take on a new project for a client who wishes to boost his rank. Say his business is auto mechanics. In order to write good content, it is essential integral to have good knowledge on the subject at hand. Withouth backlinks the site will not rank. To build backlinks, one must take part in writing guest blogs, blogs on own site, forum interactions etc. etc. - how can you confidently interact with people in that community without the knowledge of mechanics? Same thing with social media - Yes, its all great have 2000 followers/likes - but again if a question is asked on the facebook page - do you get the client to answer? How does it work? Thanks
