October 29, 201213 yr I just googled the exact title of one of my blog posts. My post is 7th (unpersonalized search), after 6 other results all of which reference my post. I honestly don't know what to do any more. Do I dosavow their links? How do I determine their value?
October 29, 201213 yr Don't disavow the links as that will simple discredit the links you're getting from them (if any) as they're not spammy. As you know, you're searching for that *exact* phrase on all websites. Ideally, you'll want your website there first, but don't disavow the links. That won't change anything. Because of the exact phrase search, it'll bring up the most relevant/powerful website with that exact phrase on, regardless of content or author. Google doesn't take into consideration the content and key phrases/words that have been used on the website. It looks like you get some great traffic to feedreader, so I wouldn't worry too much but the only way of stopping this would be to stop using this service. (not had a look how it works) Also how many times would someone search for that full phrase? I bet that they don't appear anywhere for other searches related to your website (other than these exact phrases.)
October 29, 201213 yr Author It's not a service I've signed up for - it's scraping my RSS feed and pulling it into an online reader. My point is, how are those 6 results more powerful for that exact phrase (which I admit is a bit contrived and experimental) than the source post that they're all linking to? October 29, 201213 yr Google will always side with a website that has more authority as being the original author. If I put that exact phrase on my website then I would appear for that search based purely on domain strength. All other SEO factors such as content and keyword usage etc are thrown out the window. All youre doing is asking google to bring back a list of results that contain that exact phrase within the page. A nornal search and youre askong google to bring back the most relevant website possible, its completely different. Annoying but its a different type of search
October 29, 201213 yr There's definitely some weird stuff going on in Google right now. I keep seeing Walmart ranking in my UK shopping results and when I click through it's clearly a US site in US dollars. The problem is, if you've got a website you can't just sit tight and wait MONTHS in the hope that things will get fixed and everything will be alright.
October 29, 201213 yr You could try hooking the Author tag to your posts from Google+, the word on the street is author tags in results increase your CTR and CTR comes into play with the Algo. http://searchengineland.com/google-adds-authorship-rich-snippet-markup-80455 And I understand why your annoyed and rightfully so, this is actually something Google is trying to clear up by introducing things like the Author tag. One other thing you could try is pushing social buttons, you might be able to pick up a few over the month and these social signals should also help.
