Google's new algorithm is very tricky. We have found it to be troublesome as well. We are trying to build links with maybe starting a partner page where we will link trusted partners in our industry and have them list us as well so that we may have quality links to our page. Also, we blog a LOT. www.viplimousineinc.com

When I am confronted with these questions, I turn to a host of free online auditing tools that help to point me in the right direction. Using auditing tools is helpful because you can audit your website before and then after you make the change to see the result.

A recent tool I came across was http://improvemywebsite.com.au/ . This site lets you get a free audit of your website and the rankings around it.

This was just a recent one I hadn't seen before. Another tool I use is www.mysiteauditor.com . And since this is a UK forum, I better mention a UK tool that I use - www.found.co.uk/seo-tool/ is quite good.

Try to focus more on quality and unique Content to improve your over all exposure, so it can boost up your search engine rankings, page rank & Alexa rank.

Submit quality content in sites like:

  • Press releases
  • Articles
  • Web 2.0 sites
  • Blogging sites
  • Social media sharing sites

social media optimization for increasing alexa rank.

Some of these responses are amazing.

Google Toolbar PageRank hasn't been updated since December 2013. It's dead. It's not anything you should be using as an indicator of performance.

Why are people still giving advice on increasing PageRank? It's like handing out Dodo grooming tips.

Alexa rank is based on traffic and for improve alexa rank you need to increase traffic on your site. You have to check your site bounce rate and improve top exist pages.

I think that google PageRank is for rating of popularity and rating of the website.

Personally I know few owners of the websites which got hacked and lost PageRank and positions in SERP. So I wouldn't agree that PageRank is totally irrelevant, I think that Google just prevent the abuse of it.

Google has altogether discontinued Pagerank. And in order to improve Alexa Rank you must continue to do off page techniques.

The concept of page rank is already dead. You can also google for it. The last update about page rank was in Dec 2014.

No so.

PageRank is alive and well and at the core of Google's algo. It's Toolbar PageRank that's no longer updating.

As an aside, alexa ranking is pointless and most of the advice in this thread is likely get you stamped on by Google.

Doing off page SEO work (ie: link building) goes against Google's rules. If you get caught you will get penalised. You might get away with it for years but one day Google will update the algo and your whole world will come crashing down.

Good SEO it hard work and takes a lot of time and effort. Chasing after easy links is not a good long term strategy.
