Just tried to watch a video on YouTube, which is quite rare for me so this may be old news, however i realised it was giving me the option of watching an advert before the video or watching the video with ad breaks in it!

 

What the hell YouTube, i understand you need to make money but that's totally going to ruin everything!

I'm with you. They're taking it way too far now.

What with banners everywhere, paid for suggestions on the site and in my email, ads before the vids, ads after the vids and now the choice of having ad breaks (which i imagine soon will not be a choice) i'm inclined to agree!

yeah it really sucks - pretty much all videos I watch have an advert beforehand

Here's a question: Would you pay a small fee to have a faster, ad free youtube?

I'm sure many youtube fanatics would but I wouldn't. I just dont use it that often.

Unless I really want to watch something, I almost always say "screw it" and close the video when I see an ad. Same goes for interstitial ads or sites with a super-disruptive overlay-type ad.

I definitely wouldn't pay to watch YouTube videos, the ads are so annoying! Getting far beyond ridiculous.

This is the same reason I almost exclusively use Netflix and the BBC iPlayer for content consumption, and I think soon I'll be stopping watching YouTube as well, the amount of adverts are getting ridiculous, ok content creators should get paid for their work, but at the end of the day this is going too far. I can cope with the side ad and the little overly, but the pre, mid and post roll ads are ridiculous and in some cases possibly illegal (for instance the other day, while not signed in (therefore they didn't know age), I was greeted by a 90 second long unskippable ad rated 18, im sure there is some law about these things?).

It's going to be like a porn website soon.
