The fundamentals of programming are unlikely to change anytime soon - like conditional flow, functions, logic.

This is why a developer who has the fundamentals nailed and knows what good code looks like can transition from one language to another quite easily, of course there are paradigm shifts like moving from OOP to functional and imperative to declarative stuff like that, but it's much easier if you have those fundamentals nailed.

This is why I think JavaScript is a good place to start as it is a properly multi-paradigm language and it will be around for a LONG time given it being pretty much ubiquitous.  Whatever comes next I imagine will borrow a lot from JavaScript and other languages, things like closures will almost definitely be there.

I wouldn't worry about trying to teach kids something industry relevant. The majority of concepts exist in most programming languages and it should be more about making the activity fun and enjoyable. Similarly I wouldn't be looking at teaching a language with any complexity, at this stage I'd say there's more use in something like https://scratch.mit.edu paired with a book.
If they get hooked on that you might want to start off on written code, maybe get them used to something like JS (plenty of books for kids available) then maybe look at seeing if the can translate that onto physical hardware http://johnny-five.io.

The johnny five kit looks awesome! So much fun to be had with their hands creating hardware and when combined with simple code opens up their minds to the possibilities down both paths.

Why do you want to teach them code?
What sort of code?
Will what you teach them today still be relevant when they need to use these skills?
I used to teach an after school club (11-13). We used a raspberry pi and learn how to integrate this with sensors. It gave then are really good understanding of code.

I'm not 100% sure as I don't do tax submissions for an LTD, but I'd imagine you'd declare things like directors dividends when filing your tax return, then HMRC would take that into account when calculating your tax bill.

I wouldn't worry about it, this is common with ever host who sells what doesnt exist and labels it as something its not "unlimited resources". What should bother you however is that their T&C's do not make any mention of actual limits. They have advised you not to upload videos because of server loads, yet make zero mention of server limits on their T&C's or usage policies etc.
I'd go back and ask them "So what server load is considered too much?" See if they cough up the answer or try to dodge it with "Well, its all about fair usage, there are no limits as such" (Hate those crappy answers that dodge the question.
Read over their T&C's, the wording is very odd indeed. The shared hosting "schedule" has more about domain names and bills than anything else.
Would you sign-up for a credit card from "Unlimited credit inc" if they offered you unlimited credit or would you really read carefully for the catch? This is your catch.. Unlimited space and traffic, because CPU and memory are so limited, you could never do much with it beyond a typical website anyway before they push you towards more expensive upgrades.
Not them in particular, its how every "unlimited" host operates, its a numbers game.. Draw you in with the overselling, then get you to upgrade because people dont know how easy it is to switch..

You can build a CMS from scratch. I just don't see the point when someone has already done the heavy lifting for you. In the same way you can get ready made search scripts.

Yes draw up a contact! Include items including:
What items of work you will do What items the client will be responsible for (eg supplying content) Expected deadlines,/timings especially items the client needs to do Payment terms How you deal with unexpected extras that crop up, it's common for clients to ask for extra work so build in something to cover this. It's very common to ask for a non-refundable payment up front. that can be anything you like. For smaller projects 50% is fine, for larger more expensive projects you could do stage payments on completion of certain milestones.

 

However tempting that may sound it's worth investigating what that VPN offers, latest data suggests they keep plenty of logs, though they don't fall under 5/9/14 eyes which is good.

I'm not front end (although I dabble), I would say;

Elements - Semantically good plus makes the SEO department eat out the palm of your hand.
Aria Roles - Accessibility for both visitor and search engines.
CSS
Selectors - Used correctly you can turn code the length of war and peace into a comic book.

Have you had any luck with this? My first instinct would be to reinstall the drivers. But I guess it depends on my main use for it. If I was going to use it often, I might contact the supplier and /or manufacturer if it still didn't work. Alternatively, use an external mic?

This is something that I think it down to personal preferences and setup, but for me...
I use xero for accountant stuff - it's the same system that my accountant uses so it's easy for everyone involved. It's more advanced than i really need but, as it feeds information directly from my business bank account, it's easy to keep track of who has paid invoices and any business costs i need to add invoices for.
Regarding local storage, I use a Synology 2 bay NAS drive with RAID set up. I've got a few of them, one in the office and one at home, and love them! They have an easy to use UI and you can set up auto back ups to dropbox, google drive and easily set up vpns and remote access.
I use the drive and then have specific sections (mainly client files) back up automatically to dropbox - this means when im in the office, i use the local drive which is faster than working directly through dropbox. But, when i'm out and about i can connect dropbox to the folders i need and access them that way. Any changes i make are then synced with the office drive, ready for anyone there to access.
I'm not sure if Dropbox has made any recent changes, but with the introduction of GDPR I've been warned not to use it for any internal staff related docs or any sensitive data - i haven't had time to properly investigate the reasonings though.

So not many people are overly impressed with my accomplishment this morning. I spent an hour looking through the backend files, looking for a piece of code to change the colour of a box, on this WordPress plugin. It took me a while to find the file... I eventually realized there was, in fact, an easier way to find it.
Anyway, just one tiny button & I'm still to find a few other things, but still, I feel like I've conquered a small planet 😂

I agree with this.  The agency I worked at the roles were split like this:
Designer,
Front-end developer
Back-end developer.

Larger companies divide the roles up even further and many choose to sepecialise as they advance their career.

You'll find roles such as
- DevOps
- Front-end performance engineer
- Systems architect
- Testers
 - Scrum master,
- Product owner
- Business Analyst

For design you get people who specialise in UI design and those who specialise in UX and even user journey designers.

If you want to be both a designer and developer then you will have more to learn - you're increasing the barrier to entry.  That said it's good to have at least a basic understanding of the whole stack or process.

Edit: Doh, so many edits. If you have the full Adobe Suite it's included.

2d or 3d? some animation is possible in css/svg too -even some 3d. I've just started learning blender and it's quite a steep learning curve.
a lot of it depends on what  kind of animation they're after -like 3d movements - scaling rotating, flipping, light effects, exploding etc. there's also After Effects (adobe)
