20" Samsung jobby at 1600x1200, although I'm increasingly finding myself needing a dual video card and another monitor - all that swapping between apps is doing my nut in. Spoilt at work I suppose with my two 24" HP monitors!

Seems like a good spec for the price. However, for the peace of mind and as your pc is critical to your course, I'd be tempted to go the PC World route and have the warranty. My home desktop has blown up today and I'm without a machine for up to three weeks. Luckily, the warranty is valid for another 6 days!!

Well, in the end budgetry contrainsts forced me to by an HP desktop last August. I've got a meeting with a potential client tonight for a lucarative website and gues what? My desktop has gone faulty! Luckily it's still under warranty, but will be away for up to 3 weeks! How I wish I'd bought that iMac now!!!

BlueDreamer, I've got to build a site for an entire league consisting of around 10 divisions, each with approx 10 teams in. The site needs to be maintained by my client with regards to adding fixtures, venue and results information etc. Ideally, I'd like the League Tables to be generated automatically from the results entered. Do you know whether or not EE can accomplish this task out of the box? TIA Lee

I also need to consider which CMS to use. I've just got a contract to design a football-related website. The client will want to add fixtures, results, league tables etc. I've heard that Expression Engine is good. I've not used any CMS up until now.

Is using .NET an option rather than PHP?

You're probably right buddy. The frustating thing is that 99% of tutorials that I come across are written for Photoshop.

Hi all, I've not been around for a while having started to run an under 9's footy team!! However, I need to get my bottom in gear and start web designing again... Currently, I'm using Paint Shop Pro X2, but have just come across this link for PS CS4. Now I've never seen Photoshop this "cheap". However, I'm not really too clever with making stuff look nice from scratch (I rely heavily on istockphoto.com). So, do I take the plunge and buy Photoshop and spend the hours learning it or carry on as I am?

Only one thing to add really, your links within the copy are styled the same as your em tags. I'd make them a different colour. One other thing that I only found out this week....my colleague at work is colour-blind and can only recognise links within text if they are underlined - I'll certainly be changing my own site to make it more accessible in this way.

I really like it. Just two points really. The images of the buses are too big (this might be one occasion when a splash page might actually work for a site). Second, not sure that the green swirly background is giving anything relevant to the site. Other than that, I think it looks crisp and clean and the images that you're using are fab.

Hi Wizely, No, not running a multi-national as yet, just a private limited liability company. I thought that was the best way to go when I started last year. As with everything, there are pros and cons - the limited liability gives some peace of mind, but the downside is that I have to provide all of those things mentioned above in my tax return. Anyway, I'm having the day off from my full-time day job to get this sorted out tomorrow. Wish me luck!!

Boo Hiss indeed Helen! to be honest, I'm stuggling to get my head around all of this. Apparently the taxman wants to see :- 1. A balance sheet. 2. A Profit and Loss account 3. Notes to the Accounts 4. Approval and Signing of Accounts 5. Director's report 6. Computations! Is it any wonder lots of businesses go under!! I know that Sage Instant Accounts can automatically produce 1 and 2 above, but at £135 (inc VAT), I'm wondering if it's a good investment, especially as I only do a bit of freelance on the side once in a while!
