Create a custom post type for the slides - no title, no content, just a featured image at the right size. Then write a loop to spit out however many of that post type you want into the markup required for whatever slider you want.

When you say you are having trouble moving posts into the center of the page do you mean the padding on the left of the post is too big? if so you have it set to 68px (#content in style.css)
 
on the second page you might want to remove this bit of code:

Because I don't know how to and if there's a product I can purchase off the shelf and then manipulate the design to match the website I see this as being a straight forward method. The client is aware that I will be doing this.

I'm doing a project similar to yours. On the homepage I have a slider and then content underneath with the sidebar on the left. What I did is save a copy of the file 'page' and change the name to 'page-home' then I coded the slider and the other various parts until I was happy then I saved different versions with different images eg. 'page-home', 'page-contact' ect.
 
Make sure at the top of each new page file you add...

As you may have noticed WDF has gone through a make-over, felt it needed a change from the "Standard" look template that comes with the forum software. Plus after a few years, it needed an overhaul! - So here it is! (Sorry it took a while!)
 
Currently it's in BETA, so there's some minor styling issues, but nothing major to stop me from putting the new-look live, i'm still ironing out some things in the back-end.

Not a bad design mate really simple... I was wondering if you illustrated the cartoon in your image box? This illustration is great and if you did create it then you should probably show this skill on the website that you're designing because it's amazing. Anyway, I think you have to get more creative with the site because at the moment all I see is a mac... so maybe make less emphasis on this - I know it's cool to use apple images on your website but try not to let them own your work and the service you are trying to sell.
