December 17, 201015 yr What is that you hate the most about dealing with clients? 1 --- that ask free mockup designs? 2 --- that expect detailed proposals without proper inputs? 3 --- that have no patience to discuss the project? 4 --- that post ridiculous projects for even more ridiculous prices and terms? Vent it out Edited December 17, 201015 yr by evisions
December 18, 201015 yr that expect detailed proposals without proper inputs? among all of the above I would like to vote for number 2... as I don't think any other can be resolved but when customer don't even have any idea by him\herself... that's the most irritation part as then you have to go through all of the other options as well... first you would have to give them some ideas about the designing... you have to explain all the aspects and how that works and so on...

December 18, 201015 yr I have clients sometimes state: How much! i was offered that for $300 from an indian who rang me the other day! That gets my hat up as its obvious that the indian has not got a £700 a month mortgage, a few kids and tax which is 1/4 of your wages and VAT at 20% Edited December 18, 201015 yr by RobertG
December 18, 201015 yr Author I have clients sometimes state: How much! i was offered that for $300 from an indian who rang me the other day! That gets my hat up as its obvious that the indian has not got a £700 a month mortgage, a few kids and tax which is 1/4 of your wages and VAT at 20% I don't think this has anything to do with 'Indian' thing you are referring to.. If a web designer or a coder, be it from India elsewhere offers an equally competent service that you offer for a lesser price, then the customer has every right to choose who he thinks is the right one.. Having said that, I understood the context in which you wrote that... If a customer is getting a X price, he takes that X price and goes to another vendor and states that he is interested, but the other guy quoted X and is equally competent and hence wants a discounted price.. This is typically known as a 'cheap negotiating' strategy.. Customer should rather be upfront and state his 'budget' and save his time and others time and not keeping looking for the cheapest price!
December 18, 201015 yr Author Few more points that I missed ============================== Customers that wish to clone popular websites for peanut prices and hope they will become rich and famous Customers that post projects on freelancing sites and don't bother replying nor hiring anyone nor informing others about their reason for 'silence' Customers that ask for too many silly changes all the day Customers that keep pestering for updates without knowing or understanding what it takes for the designer/coder to show an update Customers that don't know what they want and keep experimenting on a 'trial and error' model and on the top don't bother paying or respecting the efforts of the programmer, designers (especially) Customers that rush you to complete the project on time and take their own sweet damn time to make the payment and give all kinds of lame excuses Customers that are far beyond racists and call the programmers/designers by names, by country and are abusive Customers that take hours and days to discuss a project, hire you and dump you by either vanishing in the thin air or not setting up the escrow or whatever..... If anyone has more points, most welcome to add
December 18, 201015 yr That report an issue You cannot find a fault They reply the fault is still present You then change some settings, to make things more basic They replt the fault is still present The only outcome is it is an issue with their computer They then dispute this A few hours later they reply they tested in IE and it worked It turns out they were using AOL browser
December 19, 201015 yr They keep on slashing the fee even though those are already pennies and they squeeze and bargain until you are so desperate for the project. That is what I hate the most.

December 21, 201015 yr What is that you hate the most about dealing with clients? 4 --- that post ridiculous projects for even more ridiculous prices and terms? This is what I hate the most. Requesting to make a site like FB for very low prices. Edited December 21, 201015 yr by Lena

December 25, 201015 yr I like customers, as long as they are customers. I am only annoyed if they misbehave or something, never got any demanding customers, who ask for details without any strong inputs.

December 27, 201015 yr For me id have to say 2, But I've found over time that customers tend to know what they want (despite most of our beliefs) but are simply unable to explain it in a way by which we can produce their desired design. I think the use of online informal sites or approaches to dealing with such customers only worsens this due to the lack of any direct contact. By direct contact I mean that of actual time in the customers presence, it is simple but in essence it's the good old "a picture is worth a thousand words" as their body language, gestures and expressions are more invaluable than any textual communication. The real reason for this is to not only acquire what they are after but actually give the customer a feeling of ownership and that the site or product is theirs. This helps greatly, which is why I no longer accept online contracts or agreements outside of a certain radius of my office unless the price is right and the contract and specifications are iron clad and evaluated by a third party Edited December 27, 201015 yr by CSN-UK
December 29, 201015 yr lol!!! it's really a tough question for a sales guy..but still i want to write. the toughest thing about the clients smoe time they give big preferece to price. and the another thing they want high quality work..?
January 2, 201115 yr The thing that I really hate is when a client doesn't realise they're not your only client. Many times at work we've had an e-mail come in at 9 and a phone call at 12 with a client wondering why we haven't even started when we've had 3 hours to do it. Of course, one can't turn around to a client and say "you're not our only client" (¬_¬)
