OK it's rare i do this but after months working for my client with this pile of crap host i believe I'm at my wits end and it's time to warn others against this company.

 

I've had untold errors with them from duplicate servers which they've tried to charge double for to complete server corruptions which they've restored with two month old backups.

 

Upon requesting help through their support network i have only ever received a reply, at the quickest, 6 hours later (and that was the quickest reply I've had). Not only are their replies slow but they're very often ruse and abrupt.

 

I'm currently in the middle of a rather grumpy email back to them regarding another screw up and i shall follow this topic up with the rest of the story if they don't pull their thumbs out and get a move on.

Think, if you search through my posts, I brought these idiots up a while back.

 

I also believe they were recently purchased by iomart (easyspace) so probably explains the lack of "any bloody idea".

Well the story gets worse but while i'm in the middle of this dispute i wont be posting the exact details but rest assured that unless they sort it out quick fast this board will be updated with everything from the start to the bitter end.

I'm new here and apologise in advance for resurrecting this old thread but I would like to add my warning about Global Gold.

 

My day job is as a web designer/developer, but as a favour to someone else I've been using them for forum hosting - their old speciality pre "iomart takeover". At the beginning they were excellent; responsive, knowledgeable and sometimes pro-active in fixing problems. But that is in the past. Long, long in the past. After 18 months of dire support, carried out by staff who seemed to have only the loosest grasp of both the technology and the English language, I finally broke through the inertia after 2 weeks of denials about a database problem they had on their server. I have now moved elsewhere and my forum is instantly more responsive, providing consistent performance. To add insult to injury they want to hold onto my quarterly hosting payment - paid in advance.

 

The sum of money is unimportant to me (might not be to others), but their mentality and unprofessionalism means I wouldn't host anything with GlobalGold or iomart
