December 9, 20214 yr Hi I have been building websites for a few years. I have been using Tsohost to temporarily host my clients websites. I had bought group hosting. It was a great feature as you could use a temporary gridhosted domain and it enabled us to work on the site in private. Once the client had decided approved the website it could be moved onto their current hosting to replace their old website. It worked really well until Tsohost have stopped this feature and offer no similar option. So I need to find another way of temporarily hosting websites with a temp domain which is cheap and secure. I have looked around but I cant find anything. Someone suggested setting up subdomains on my website but surely that will slow it down? Is there a better way?
December 9, 20214 yr Welcome to the forums. I use a reseller account to host development sites, and a few low traffic client sites. In addition to that I use a dev only domain name so I can use subdomains for builds such as client1.mydomain.co.uk client2.mydomain.co.uk - my host also offers true temporary domains (like 123456.temp-dns.com) that can be added and removed on any account should that be more applicable. That gives me a lot of flexibility. TSO was bought out by Paragon a few years back who tend to asset strip hosting companies to reduce costs and increase profits, it's no wonder their service has declined!
December 9, 20214 yr Get a junk domain name and some cheap hosting. You can then set up subdomains to do your development. Doesn't matter how slow as Google will never know the site exists. That being said, I've got a site with about 20 subdomains and never had a problem with speed.
