May 7, 201115 yr The previous cards I had did not match with the new branding, so I decided to make new cards. This is the new mock-up for my company's business cards. What do you guys/girls think? Any feedback is appreciated. I ordered 500 to start off (sample/temp cards), planning on ordering more if these come out good. To better suit the style, I got them printed on recycled paper. May 7, 201115 yr is it just the angle of the image or intentional that the text is not centred on the card? 'everytime' is not a word. it should be 'every time'.
May 7, 201115 yr I would have been inclined to put the phone icon facing the other way so the actual phone is pouring at the number. It's hard to see both versions cos of the camera angle. Can ya not show both normally? Think I might prefer tge old one but like I said it's hard to see them so it's hard to judge
May 7, 201115 yr Author @zed >> Yes everytime is not a word and my staff and I had a long discussion regarding it. In the end we decided to make it one word mostly because we wanted to use it in a singular tense. Also because most people near our office (those who we are targeting as a client) use it as a single word. It's a common mistake that many wanted to make and we wanted to show that we are just like them, we understand their needs; only difference is that we specialize in web development. The mockup has a little issue showing the angled work. @altzer81: I agree about the phone. I might switch it on the next set I order. May 7, 201115 yr up to you but you could be putting people off that aren't near you. They may look at the card and think if you can't get that right and have an attention to detail then what is the rest of your work like. If I were a potential customer looking I'd see pixel perfect then 'every time' wrong and think of the irony.
May 7, 201115 yr i agree with the "everytime" and also i'm not sure how you can say "pixel perfect every time" because it's not really possible across all browsers/devices - you may be setting yourself up for trouble somewhere along the line
May 7, 201115 yr Author Okay I guess I should have mentioned this earlier, these cards are for this specific area. The cards for our Cali locations will contain different information. The "pixel perfect...everytime!" is referring mostly for the images that we use, not really web. I think it's pretty understandable that you can't have the perfect web whereas with a printable material or images you can (or get close to it) @Lev >> I see what you mean by stain. I can't really change it much anymore as the logo is fixed and has been sent to the print shop. @dap >> I think it is. But before I even printed the material, I had one of my college professor (who I'm still in touch with) review it.
May 8, 201115 yr Not much use to comment if you cant change them anymore but: I like the font on the back better than the front, perhaps a single font might be looking better. Phone and fax icons are darker then text, I would prefer similar colors for uniformity. Or tyhe other way around where the telephone number is darker. Half globe-ish thing looks like a dirty fingerprint, better get rid of it when printing more, you guys might know it is a (whatever it is), but you should give your business cards to (mostly) new potential customers, they will probably see a dirty fingerprint. pixel-perfect everytime, is not too bad, although I do not like the red line under it created by my spelling check. Maybe perfect pixels every time would work better?? Good luck P.
May 8, 201115 yr The white/gray shadow on the text makes the kerning look really funky in the logo. And to be perfectly honest I don't think the card really benefits from all the shadow/bevel effects. The kerning on the subline beneath the logo is a bit funky too. The tracking on the text on the non-logo side is really high. I think a font-face like this (which face is it?) would look a lot better with tight tracking. It would also accentuate the spacing and double periods between the bottom line. I think you should change the e-mail on the card to something like sales@ or info@ instead of support@. I don't like the icons on the digital images but in print they look really good, so go with that. 100% agree on reversing the phone. The icon for the mail should probably be more appropriate for e-mail. The icon you have there now looks like a "print" icon. It's a smidge confusing. All in all I like the aesthetic, I just notice the small typographical stuff right away because I'm a picky SOB. Good work! EDIT: Oh, and people might be a bit confused by the pixel-perfect part. Just because it's common knowledge for us that web designs aren't always pixel-perfect across browsers doesn't (unfortunately...) mean that clients won't be confused. May 9, 201115 yr Author I actually only ordered a few to test the quality of paper and to get a few out to the company sponsors as they needed a few right away. The next batch will have many fixes, thus I asked here. The slogan "pixel perfect...everytime!" can no longer be changed (unfortunately) as the sponsors already submitted to their records as the official logo. I agree the back does need a little work. Will post the updates soon to see what you all think. Thanks for the feedback on this one. If you have more, you are more than welcomed to reply.
May 12, 201115 yr Author Not really a moon but rather a dark (graphically manipulated) planet. But just like all other art, it is up for interpretation...
