  1. giving your #wrapper a negative margin-bottom will get rid of the vertical scrollbar for smaller resolutions furthermore, i like the design, its not spectacular but nice and simple.
  2. i like the top most because i dont really like the block you put in the other two designs. i do however think the top one is a bit too crowded
  3. personnaly i wouldnt pay for such a membership, but that may be because im already swamped and dont need any more. i can understand that freelancers in need of work would. i say why not let the members decide, when they sign up people who expect to get a lot of work from there would choose pay per month and people who expect to get a little work from there to do in theyr spare time would rather pay a percentage

well im currently in college in holland doing ICT Media Design, which is for about 70% webdesign/webcode and 30% other media than the internet

are you resizing the image in the html? that never works out like you want it so if you want a certain image a certain size, make sure its that size when you save it instead of resizing it in the html
  6. is this fixed already? because in ie7+ff3 it works fine over here
  7. the server escaped the slashes, try this <?php if (isset($_REQUEST['submit'])) {$email = ($_REQUEST['email']); echo preg_replace("/[\\n|\\r|\\t]/","","$email");} ?>
  8. red-X replied to brendan_qu's topic in Server Side
well that very much depends on your own php skills i guess
  9. http://users.skynet.be/mgueury/mozilla/user_guide.html says This icon appears when the url is excluded from validation for one reason below: - when the protocol is about: (ex: about:blank) - or when the page is an URL defined in the exception list of URLs that should not be validated (in the Options...) - or for some advertisements in frames (when tidy.options.validate_ads=false)
  10. well i think :hover only works in anchors in ie6, but since your using anchors anyway you could do something like a #news_ { position:absolute; left:13px; top:111px; width:47px; height:33px; background:url("images/news.png") no-repeat; } a:hover #news_ { background:url("images/news2.png") no-repeat; }

i dont know if this is just a copy/paste mistake but you need a space between onmouseover="ddMenu('two',1)" and onmouseout="ddMenu('two',-1)" you have onmouseover="ddMenu('two',1)"onmouseout="ddMenu('two',-1)" but should have onmouseover="ddMenu('two',1)" onmouseout="ddMenu('two',-1)"
  12. yes you would have to redefine your sites, or you can save them before you uninstall just go to manage sites... export... and just import the same way when its reinstalled
  13. well depends on what kind of portfolio you want it to be, however i would prefer the kind of information you would put in your resume
  14. == equal to != not equal to < less than > greater than =< smaller than or equal to => bigger than or equal to also i recommend using both php and javascript for validation. php being there just for backup cuz javascript is client side it can just be turned off. however if it is used how it should, your form can be validated without a page refresh, which imo is better
  15. pen tool works well yeah, i however prefer to make a quickmask, you have can actually use every editing tool there is to create that line between visible/invisible
  16. red-X replied to will_doyle's topic in Frontend
depends, when working as a freelancer or when im at work, freelance: images/ css/ scripts/ uploads/ (depends on if it has some sort of cms) at work: ~general/images/ ~general/css/ ~general/scripts/ ~includes/ ~uploads/ folderforeachpage/ (not home)
  17. its like that because every div u placed inside the content holder div has position:absolute, which takes it out of the normal flow of the website, the content holder basically doesnt know it has content so it has nothing to size it up, your gona have to do things like this without position:absolute
  18. well i can see buildings in the header, however if its trouble for the visitors shouldn't you make it more clear anyway even if its just half of the visitors. well it all depends on if it matters whether they recognize the header image to be a photo of something or just a header image
  19. i would like to see websites in 640 x 480, preferably fixed, maby even tables
  20. red-X replied to Aled Mann's topic in Frontend
depends on what u want to do with it if you want to center your website or something like that just use something like #wrapper{ width:960px; margin:0 auto;} </style> </head> <body> <div id="wrapper"> place your website content in here </div> </body>
  21. whats the difference than? all i see is just another serverside script
  22. i dont really see a need for shtml since you can do the same thing and alot more with php, asp.net, colfusion and other languages. i am however looking forward to xhtml 2.0...or more like looking forward to when 90% of all browsers support it in any decent kind of way
  23. well the best thing is to design your website like that so that it can be liquid but still looks great, however that is a real challenge
  24. Very nice, congrats
  25. well a liquid layout is still always best since media=screen doesnt say much about the size of that screen. its just that you can never make it so liquid that it would still look just as perfect on a phone as on a computerscreen, or maby if you want to simplify it for print.
