International website
Hi, I have been asked to produce a website that has offices in several countries across the globe. They have asked me to advise what would be the the best way to structure their site or sites. 1. Would it be best to have an individual website with it's own domain name in each country/location 2. Or would it be best to have one main website with just one domain name with sub pages for each country / location. I suspect the first option would be better for SEO and maybe easier to navigate from a users point of view - ie the homepage would automatically be in their preferred language. But another question is maintaining the site/sites. Which would be the most efficient way to do that? But I'm not sure. Can someone please give me some recommendations or advice about this please. Basically I need to know the best way to structure such a project. Thanks for any advice in advance.

UL problem
Hi, Can someone tell me what I need to do to fix this pls. What's happening is that in a UL when the text flows on to another line the bullet/disc aligns with the second row of text in a <li></li> See the following code: <div id="listproblem"> <p> <ul> <li><a href="#">Easy Access from motorways </a></li> <li><a href="#">Fantastic Views next to the Sea </a></li> <li><a href="#">Pubs and Restaurants on the Doorstep </a></li> <li><a href="#">Easy and Free Parking at Hotels & Guest Houses </a></li> <li><a href="#">Over 300 Hotels and Guest Houses a stroll away</a></li> </ul> </div> And the CSS: #listproblem{ position:absolute; top:130px; left:487px; width:287px; height: 403px; font-size: 1.0em; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; text-align:justify; color:#000000; padding: 0px; border: 0px; overflow:auto; z-index: 9; } #listproblem ul { list-style:disc; font-size: 1.0em; padding:0px; border-width:0px; margin:0px; } #listproblem li { display:block; display:list-item; padding:0px; border-width:0px; margin:0px 0px 0px 20px; color:#FF9900; line-height:18px; } #listproblem li a { display:inline-block; padding: 0px; border-width: 0px; margin:0px; text-decoration: none; color:#5A7CB8; } #listproblem a:hover { list-style:georgian; text-decoration:none; padding:0px; border-width:0px; color:#FF9900; } Thanks for any advice! Form validation
Hi, I've just produced a form using pure css and not a table in sight. Very proud and happy with the result. The form submits via php. Works beautifully! But now the client wants me to validate various fields - ie the form can't be sent unless the user enters their name. Just because I like to make things difficult for myself, I think it would be great if the field that needs to be completed changes background colour. I've scoured the web and I thought I'd found some great javascript code to answer my prayers but it aint working. I notice in the sample I've used the form was built using tables. Mine was built without them and is styled from the stylesheet. So does that mean the javascript doesn't have any effect on the form colours? Here's the javascript: <script type="text/javascript"> function validateFormOnSubmit(theForm) { var reason = ""; reason += validateEmpty(theForm.name); reason += validateEmpty(theForm.email); reason += validateEmpty(theForm.companyname); reason += validateEmpty(theForm.address); reason += validateEmpty(theForm.city); reason += validateEmpty(theForm.postcode); reason += validateEmpty(theForm.enquiry); if (reason != "") { alert("Some fields need correction:\n" + reason); return false; } return true; } function validateEmpty(fld) { var error = ""; if (fld.value.length == 0) { fld.style.background = 'Yellow'; error = "The required field has not been filled in.\n" } else { fld.style.background = 'White'; } return error; } </script> Thanks for any advice. Flash CS3 Website with video
Hi, we've all been there so don't get stressed first point. Secondly, what you really need is someone like me who can sort it out for you but maybe you're not in a position to face charges but that's not a problem. What would be useful to see is the .fla you've created, or just copy the code here. I'll have a look, I'm sure I know the answer to this - I've done loads of video online. Once you know you'll be up and running. Jo

Hi, Is there a way to set the height of a div so that it will expand vertically to hold as much text and images as has to be entered, but at the same time setting a minimum height so it doesn't scale down below say for example 700px? Thanks

Screen Recording Software
Last one I used was called "Robohelp". It seemed to be the best in market then but that was about 4 years ago. Good luck.

Font size question
Hi, I've been asked by a colleague the following and to be honest I'm not 100% sure of the best answer. One of those things were there are lots of different questions: Q " I was getting frustrated with the font size of my page as it was appearing a bit bigger than I wanted it to and wouldn't get any smaller even though I kept changing the size in the code. I found that it's actually my browser settings that control the size of the text so now what do I do about setting the font size as I want the text to nicely fill the page and not change according to each individuals browser settings as I have a fixed page size. Now I'm worried about text spilling out of the page size or not filling the page in different peoples browsers, is there any way I can set it to a constant no matter what people's browser settings are?" Now I'm gonna tell her to sign up to this forum. Thanks.

Google maps
When you say the "specified domain" I think so. I'm putting the key in the head of the page with the map on it. Surely that makes sense. So, the domain is www.pawrs.com and the page with the map is http://www.pawrs.com/recycling_show_location.html So the last url is the domain I used. Isn't that right? Thanks.

Google maps
Hi, I'm including a google map in to a site. Absolutely a piece of cake except the friggin API key! I generate the API key, cut and paste the javascript in to the head of the page but when I publish the page I get the following message: "This web site needs a different Google maps API key. A new key can be generated at . . .etc" I've created 3 new keys and still get the same message. Anyone come across this before? I've checked within google forums but I can't find a conclusive answer. Contact forms and security
Hi I've built quite a large php form for a clients website. Someone, somewhere, keeps filling the form in with rubbish and sending it. Consequently my client is receiving lots of mail from the form which is annoying and she's getting a bit peeved. Is there a way in which you can capture the ip address or something of the sender so we can "have a word" (if you know what I mean). Thanks, Jo
