Can someone give me feedback on a homepage?
I've been using Bootstrap for a long time and the only benefit I really found to it was the grid system which, to be honest, isn't difficult to set up yourself. I use Bootstrap on smaller projects as it speeds things up ten fold.

Can someone give me feedback on a homepage?
Definitely needs speeding up too. Might take some hover elements away.

Can someone give me feedback on a homepage?
Thanks guys for the feedback! Definitely responsive. I like to build the page first and then make it responsive so I don't have to use frameworks and restrict the design.

Portfolio to review
Personally I like it. It's clean, simple and is quite a nice, different way of showcasing work. Maybe some hover effects over the large images and maybe using larger graphics to focus more on the design aspect might make more of an impact but I think it's a nice way of laying it out.

Can someone give me feedback on a homepage?
Hey guys, I'm working on a client's marketing website. They wanted a lively, colourful, 3D website to reflect on their business. Their main services they want to point out are Insight, Branding, Retail Marketing, Retail Design, Shopper Marketing and Packaging. The (unfinished) homepage is here: http://dev.themarketcreative.com/ I was just wondering if anyone likes the direction I'm going in, if anyone has any ideas that might look cool or any ideas on how to improve the design. I'm happy with it, I just value the opinion of the web design community.

New Sub Domain Ruined Root Domain Ranking Google
I have a website that is www.tstwebdesign.co.uk and it was ranked at page 3 for 'web design manchester' on Google but I recently made a sub-domain called freelance.tstwebdesign.co.uk for my freelancing project and as soon as this got ranked, my root domain has disappeared from that keyword totally but it is showing up if you search for the company name. Any help would be massively appreciated as I'm clueless as to what is going on. I haven't used any black hat techniques as far as I know so that shouldn't be the problem.

do i have to use wordpress?
It's worth it in the end, it seems daunting but once it's done you'll have a world of opportunities once it's done. If you need help doing it, there are plenty of tutorials online if your coding is clean

Do You Work From Home?
1) How often do you get work? Sometimes I work 12 hour days, Monday to Friday and sometimes I will have a week or two free. I spend the time working on my current site to get more business. 2) HOW do you get work? (how have you managed to get paying customers/how do they know about your services) Normally through word of mouth. I freelance for some companies which was from me contacting them directly. 3) Do you work from home exclusively? Yes. 4) How much do you earn per year? (on average, if this is too personal it is fine to skip this question) Not enough at the moment. Enough to make a living but i have to sacrifice a lot until I get more work.

Help & Advice Welcomed
Responsive design is a good idea. Where responsive different from a mobile version is that responsive shifts and moves around to fit the screen of the device you are using meaning no one is directed to a different version of your website and you only have to edit 1 website. Twitter feeds are good if you are active. not only will it get you more followers but it shows the company is still active and regularly updating itself.

When NOT to create a responsive website
Hey, I guess it all depends on whether you already have a design in mind. sometimes making it responsive can limit some designs but I make all mine responsive as standard. Like you said, you wouldn't get the full experience viewing the portfolio on a mobile so maybe it's worth leaving it off until he/she says so.

How much do you charge for website designs?
As a freelancer, I charge £15 as I am just starting out. Creating websites for your own customers is a total different ball game. The complexities of the different variables the customer might want make it impossible for us to really answer this. If you're confident with your abilities and know how long it will take you to make what they want you to make, charge by the hour at a rate that you would believe would be worth your time. The amount of times I have under-charged just to get the project, just to be left still doing corrections to this day are uncountable. If they don't like the price, there is no problem negotiating with them but be confident with what you charge. If they think you're way off the mark, let it be someone else's problem.
