Hey, I'm a student currently studying A-Levels in Northern Ireland. I have enjoyed using image manipulation programmes (Gimp then Photoshop) for the past 6-7 years. A few months back I started learning HTML and CSS and now feel confident writing in them. I want to start earning through freelance work in my spare time and build up a portfolio for applying to do Interactive Media in University. I plan on getting clients by offering cheap prices for making websites but I have no idea how much to charge. There are agencys over here charging £2,000 upwards for disgusting looking sites. I can't develop powerful sites but I do have a good eye for design and revising them until they look the part. So for a 5-10 page website purely built with html5 and css3 (php snippets for contact form) how much should I charge to beat the competitors but not under sell my services. Thanks, Jamie

Sorry for the late reply, I appreciate the help and from this I realise I need to design for the target audience, the customers. But what exactly do they want? I know what designers want as they inspiration blogs are pasted all over the net but what does an actual potential client want to see in terms of design. I can see content wise now what they want. Also to 4li4s, I suppose I wanted to go flat for personal preferences, but I realise now I need to design around my clients (there aren't any obviously but hopefully in the future ) . I know what you mean about customers not knowing if a button is a button haha, I've spent a lot of time myself hovering over what appears to be a button.

I use chrome too and thats what it looks like for me haha. I don't notice any problems with it lol.

Thanks. The logo isn't a vector, I whipped it up in 1min in photoshop. I just needed something satisfactory to be there for a while. As for the logo quality I don't know why it isn't crisp for you as it is sitting perfect on my screen, could be cross browser problems as I recently noticed the background image doesn't sit right on IE. I actually never though of converting this site to a flat design, was going to start from scratch so thanks for that. I totally agree with the fonts, I will update them to something more appropriate when I convert to flat. All I need is to win the lottery and get Proxima Nova .

Ok so this is the very first full website I have ever built. Its my personal website portfolio but the portfolio page is still to be done, I've just lost motivation in this site and want to move to a flat design. Anyway any comments or feedback would help me a lot, also big thanks to throzen for some help with it. After this project I have learnt so much and that is good enough for me. Thanks. I've started designing a website that lets people submit photos (can't give away the type of photos, its what makes the site unique) and when someone comes onto the website they see an image and button below, the button below chooses another photo at random from the folder of images. Now my problem is I need to know how to get the button to choose a random image from the folder. When someone uploads an image it goes straight to the folder. Hello, not sure if I'm in the right section but yolo. Ok so the idea hit me a few days ago that I could speed up the process of sharing a post or page with a friend by cancelling out the little window that comes up or the click on sites like www.businessinsider.com. So the user basically just typed their friends name in to the box and hits enter. Bam! Its shared. So what I am asking is how would the button work, I have a decent understanding of html and css. I want to learn new languages as well and this project will help me do just that. How would the button connect to their Facebook? How would it get access to their friends list? etc. I know I am practically shooting myself in the foot by posting this idea online but anyway, would is it even an idea worth developing further, I just personally feel it would be a beneficial element to anyway webpage and would work very efficiently. I have attached some quick, sloppy and rough mock-ups of how it would potentially look. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jamie Mcardle
