do i have to use wordpress?

Featured Replies

ive got decent knowledge of all the web basics, i have all the coding and everything set up and ready to go online but i have a blog in the site which is going to be quite a main feature of it, just wondering if i have to set up all my coding again through wordpress to manage the blog and add new posts without having to keep changing the HTML again, or is there a way to manage my content without ?

many thanks

When you say you have all the coding ready to go, what do you mean?

I gather that you have a static site at the moment? If that is the case then yes, you will have to convert it to Wordpress by adding the appropriate tags/functions to output the content.

The way Word press works is that it uses something called 'the loop'. That means it will output the content from the database on to your site. You will need to add the appropriate HTML and CSS for the look of the post but you only have to do it once as it will style every post the same according to how you have built it.

You of course don't need to use Wordpress, there are many other ways but Wordpress is fairly popular and well documented.

It's worth it in the end, it seems daunting but once it's done you'll have a world of opportunities once it's done.

If you need help doing it, there are plenty of tutorials online if your coding is clean :)

Well, there is no special need to use WP, but since you're not really aware of what you're doing, I'd suggest you use CMS like WordPress.

Wordpress is best CMS for the beginners. There are free plugins as per your need. Find out more on wordpress.org.
