June 3, 200818 yr I like coming-up with some cunning play on words that makes me grin from ear-to-ear. Like "Content matters" as a strapline for right2web. I got a complete sentence and 2 subtly different yet totally relevant meanings out of just 2 words! Better is when I write something funny or, the real highlight of my day is when there's a monstrous or humorous error in the original copy. A couple of weeks back, on a big estate agency's site they had advertised this million dollar house as "blah, blah... surrounded by a white fence"! Only the 'w' in 'white' was actually an 's'!!!!

June 3, 200818 yr Difficult really, like climbing a mountain, the effort is directly relative to the satisfaction. So a lot of the things that cause me the most grief give me the most satisfaction. For me though it's primarily solving visual problems - be that through code or a graphics package.

June 3, 200818 yr I don't do the "PSD then HTML" thing, so I guess the most satisfying thing for me is starting with a vanilla HTML+CSS wireframe layout (no pics, fonts or colours, lorem ipsum text, etc) and transforming it by degrees into the picture I had in my head. And having it still validate afterwards - that's quite satisfying...

June 3, 200818 yr Hands up if you curse IE in your JavaScript functions sometimes <raises hand /> I'm a C# developer and regularly sneak some funny comments into my code. It helps to distract my colleagues from laughing AT my code!

June 10, 200818 yr I enjoy everything about my work as a web developer because I really just see it as being paid to do my hobby! I do take particular joy in knowing that I've just made a little slice of the internet a better place for everyone. The thing I like least about my job is the boring data entry work – entering content into the client's websites. No Wizely, not nice content, this is the rushed, "the client knows best", type of content that I have no choice in because I'm not the boss where I work.

June 23, 200818 yr Completing the last (one of many) tweaks to the copy that the client wanted changing and then uploading it for the world to see. Plus seeing it rank well in Google is always a winner! Man! you guys are sooo naughty! Hiding messages in code eh?? tut tut!
June 23, 200818 yr I love designing and I love to create system (php, mysql, javascript), but I hate putting design into css and html. Sorry if I offended somebody with that, but that's my opinion.
