That looks cool now! But another thing is... fancy CVs do not always attract employers. CV is a official document and thus the design aspect of it should be kept to a minimum. Having it different than the standard version of CV is a wrong thing to do I think. Anyway, all will depend on the interview. Good luck

You should aim to put one of your keywords in the title tag, as long as it still makes sense and isn't too long or irrelevant

I am not sure if this will reduce the size of the image file which is stored on your server. Isn't the image holder tag just an instruction for the browser just to display your image in certain dimensions?

Maybe you are being too pushy when cold calling/meeting these clients?
 
I don't really do it much these days, unless they are a new business or new to the area, but when i did, I would have some simple marketing packs all ready made up that I would hand to them. These packs would contain a covering letter detailing who I am/what I do (not too long, a well spaced out a4 letter is sufficient) , a few business cards, a flyer covering all my services and another double sided full colour A5 flyer that had small box ads (4 or 6 per side), promoting other local businesses of interest. The latter was a way to show the potential client that it isn't all about 'Me', and that you support local business etc etc.
 
Now when I delivered these packs I wouldn't go in all salesy, pushy and arrogant. I would simply drop in, ask for the manager/account manager and simply engage in a 30 second conversation. "Hi, my name is Simon, I run a small web design company in town and just wanted to make you aware of who i am and i am here should you ever need my services". Hand them the pack (if they refuse, accept it and politely walk away) and wish them a good day and leave it at that. There is no need for the big sell, and remember, they are business owners to, so will normally be busy. Ask yourself how you feel when the phone rings and it's a cold calling sales guy trying to sell double glazing...You just want to get on with your day! So short and sweet is the key.
 
Like I say, I don't really need to do this any more, I have worked hard building up the company to the point where we have various graphic design agencies pass on regular work, have repeat customers, rank well for multiple search terms and have built up a good reputation, but this takes time.
 
I would strongly urge you to forget sites like people per hour, freelancer etc, and any of these online design competition sites. You won't achieve any success there and it will just leave you with a sour taste in your mouth.
 
I will go out on a limb here though and say I think your biggest problem is that you also have a full time job, or at least another major source of income. You say you can earn £30 p/h teaching martial arts, which is great! Ten clients a week at that rate for just one hour each is already a good weekly income, and this is the problem. Because you have this fallback/secure income you won't be as focussed on the web design side of things as, let's face it, the money earned from that is extra, it's not money needed to live on/support your family.
 
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you should give up working for the man to pursue web design (I did, but that's another story) but you need to make a decision and stick with it. If you wish to pursue web design, set aside a few days a week to do that, without any interruption from anything else. Nobody is going to hire you without a solid portfolio, so even if they are 'made up' websites, get them online!

my personal opinion on this sort of thing is that I don't need their money, I don't need their greif and I certainly don't have to put up with a load of rubbish just to 'keep a customer' sometimes if someone is messing you about the best thing is to cut and run, if you are owed money that is why we have courts

Why don't you focus on better things than guest posting. Hiring an experienced sales person would generate you far more money...

This is useful. I had some corrupt .jpg files on my PC that you could see the thumbnail for but when you opened up the thing it was corrupt. I tried all the recovery programs and none would touch it.

As an aspiring SEO expert I would say that changing image file names as well as image description gives a lot. This method gives a good keyword / key phrase saturation within the content of the web page, but do not suff too many keywords.

It's Adobe's attempt to produce a true Web Design tool. It does a solid job of merging vector and raster images and makes slicing up mockups quite easy.
 
It used to be a Macromedia product (like Flash and Dreamweaver), so when Adobe purchased it they kept it on despite having Photoshop and Illustrator. It definitely overlaps other products in their lineup but it gives designers another option for creating their work.

Fireworks is a great tool for webdesign, streamlined workflow, ability to copy aspects of the design through to all pages, slice and export easily etc I find it much faster and more streamlined to use than Photoshop. It's my preference when designing
 
However, please be aware that FW isn't built to handle large dimensions like Illustrator or even PS - too many large files open at once and it crashes so save regularly. Even still, I prefer it
