  1. Just found an easy solution, it only forces you on your first campaign, so if you create a new one you can choose then. I think that's another little cheeky trick by Google though
  2. Just started a new anayltics campaign after a long time away from it and it seems Google now forces you to show ads on it's display network. I cannot disable it no matter what, just wondering if it's because it's a new account or what? Anybody experienced the same thing?
  3. Out of those 2 I also think the 2nd is better
  4. Same here, the first one. Not sure if it's because I looked at that one first or what.. How far are you on with the development, looks a fun idea.
  5. Currently working on a WordPress multisite network with instant site propagation whereby users can easily set-up a minimalist ecommerce boutique.
  6. yeah, absolutely. It's a forum at the end of the day. It's not that big a deal really what colour the background is. It's dark text on a light background. You can read it fine. Sorted.
  7. As much as I hate to agree with old gwildor, I think he is right on the money there
  8. I recently came across a site called Linkshare and out of curiosity signed up to a couple of their programs. I was accepted for both and was in the process of planning what I could make to utilize the programs fully. Fortunately for me a didn't spend that much time or expense up to this point as last night out of the blue I got this email:- Haven't got a clue what it is I am supposed to have done, sent an email to enquire and no response. I would say these guys are quite ruthless and would like to warn people to be careful not to invest too much time in this site as they can shut you down just like that. So I guess that's the end of my affiliate marketing.
  9. I think it was a bad move to be honest. I think it's got a confused identity - almost like you've looked at the competition and panicked. At the end of the day, this forum has the longest track record and thousands of users and I don't think the quick tweaking is enough to put it back on top. Sorry to be so blunt Ben, but as people know I tend to say it like it is..
  10. Personally I would put the whole thing down to experience and move on to something else.
  11. I've certainly not been told about that so I am not expecting my bill to go up - it better not.
  12. You could look at something like this. I've used a few plugins from this site and so far I've been happy overall.. http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/communities/
  13. I see. There are an awful lot of divs here, more than is likely needed so it's hard to identify. I would suggest changing the padding on this element initially and see what that does.. Edit - forget that, just noticed a display none in that css so that can't be it #header-wrapper { width: 960px; margin: 0px auto 0px; height: 80px; padding: 20px 0px 20px 0px; /*Try 20px 0px 10px 0px*/ overflow: hidden; background: #FFFFFF; display: none; }
  14. As wickham said it's pretty tough without a link as it could be a whole host of reasons. I'd be inspecting the code now if I could (try inspect element in chrome)
  15. More and more people are turning to WordPress (and with good reason). It is no longer exclusively a blog, it has evolved. I would personally choose this over Joomla or Drupal 99% of the time. If you are looking for ones that are not open-source consider Expression Engine, it's core version is now free again for personal and non-commercial projects so you could experiment to see if it was a good fit for you.
  16. "cheapest" and "best" rarely go hand in hand. I'm currently with Heart Internet although if I was starting out now I'd probably look at TSOHost or Vidahost. That said I cannot personally fault the support I have received from Heart although other people on this forum have not been so fortunate (there are lots of threads on here about that, no need for me to elaborate). Taking everything into account Heart have been good overall for me - price, support, service, user-interface.
  17. I was going to add something but then realise my old self had already commented last year.. necro thread! edit - on the plus side I did have a good laugh reading the osCommerce post again!
  18. Hi Ben, Just wanted to ask you something. These measures regarding spam were obviously very necessary, but why did it take so long to get a response from you? I know of a few mods that worked hard at removing spam on here but in the end it seems they lost heart. eg:- it seemed to be a very bad move allowing status updates via twitter - the status updates themselves were constantly full of viagra adverts. I'll admit, it was quite amusing for a few days but then it got a little tedious..

I'm going to sit firmly on the fence and say both.
  20. Also, you need to allow ample room for the validation error you get if the form isn't filled out. Try in chrome and click send button without filling out the form
  21. First thing you need to do is add .fancybox-wrap {overflow:hidden} @ line 8 of jquery.fancybox.css Then figure out what's making the pop up a different size in firefox (is it a padding or margin issue?) When you resize the browser you get the same scroll bar even in Chrome
  22. He came back just to prove you wrong.
