Any reason why you're using DIV elements to create buttons with? Why not use a html BUTTON, they're accessible and intended to use as buttons.

Advice needed running desktop app on web server with timed access
I've done limited access stuff like this for logged in members. All I did was use the timestamp of the payment to allow x hours access to the content, using a simple calculation on the time (payment time + 24 hours). Took me 2 minutes to code up in ExpressionEngine, literally

How important is web analytics to you?
I always tell clients who use analytics that the numbers are always representative and not necessarily 100% accurate. As Jack said browser privacy tools like adblockers prevent data from being collected.

How important is web analytics to you?
Something I have noticed is that many clients just ask for GA "because everyone else uses it". Few (if any) ever bother to evaluate anything else. For most sites GA is complete overkill when all they need is an idea of visitor numbers, my CMS counts page views anyway which a lot of clients are perfectly happy with, I can even show them page views totals on each front end page and create simple custom reports for them if they need that. And of course with GDPR analytics should be opt in so data numbers will always be on the low side compared to reality.

Single page visitors?
I think the key thing here is measuring specific actions such as clicking a CTA, sending an enquiry via a contact form or completing a task. I don't use GA but in Matomo you can record things like clicks and actions which can give you an insight into what visitors are actually doing.

How important is web analytics to you?
Where clients ask for analytics I always recommend self hosted Matomo over Google Analytics, the main reason being privacy. Matomo allows fully anonymous data gathering, the data is stored on the clients server so they have full control. On the other hand using GA you end up feeding the surveillance monster that is Alphabet and its various businesses and you cannot guarantee data is private.

A Full Stack developer needn't be an expert in many things?
This. It's very rare for someone to be an expert in everything, the web landscape is so vast now that it'd take a life time to master everything, and by which time you'd have retired anyway!

Wordpress Woocommerce limit ability to add to cart
Welcome to the forums I don't use Wordpress, but typically for this sort of scenario you'd have three member groups such as: public (not logged in, cannot buy) pending members (pre consultation, cannot buy) full members (post consultation, can buy) Then when you assign someone to one of those roles the ability to buy is either enabled or disabled automatically - you may need to adjust your front end code accordingly.

How long does a Junior role last?
How long is a piece of string? Over the years I've seen people promoted in as little as six months from starting, others it takes several years to be in a position to become suitable for the role. It often boils down to a few things: - have you made senior management aware that you are hungry for promotion? - have you already applied for any promotion, not just dev roles? (show your enthusiasm for promotion will get you noticed) - are you getting better at what you do day by day? Do you come up with solutions that no-one else thinks of? - if you're not involved with certain aspects of the business, such as attending client meetings, ask if you can so you can learn and offer input based on your experience - have you asked to cover senior roles when they are on holiday/sick? (get some experience)

-moz and -webkit
The -webkit prefix applies to older Safari/Chromium based browsers in the same way -moz is used by Firefox. If you need to support older versions of Firefox, Safari and Chromium (Chrome, Opera, Vivaldi, Brave and others) based browsers then it's worth considering if you need those styles applied. Those particular browsers have a high update rate so use of older versions can be all but non-existent, check your logs/analytics to see what usage they have and make a decision based on that.

How much free time do you have as a web designer/developer?
Working freelance I get to choose when I work so making free time is relatively easy - in fact "work" is something I do in-between everything else! Of course there are exceptions, say when a client needs me there at a specific date/time, or I have a heavy workload (it's not uncommon for me to be working on several projects simultaneously).

Do I need to know CMSs?
There are 100's of different CMS's built on various languages, but the chances are you'll generally only run into a few popular ones such as: PHP/MySQL based Wordpress Craft ExpressionEngine Joomla Drupal Flat file based Statamic Kirby Grav Jekyll ...to name a few off the top of my head. It's worth downloading a few to see how they work, some commercial ones like Craft and Statamic let you install on localhost to play around with.

In-place video design
Well you need controls there to start/stop the video, adjust volume, or use the scrubber. As for captions, if they are added to the video itself then that's been done by the video author and you can't remove them. On the other hand if captions are added conventionally via and external text file then you should be able to turn them on/off to suit your needs using whatever controls have been enabled - the "cc" button on the video I'd assume is for "closed captioning".

Do I need to know CMSs?
It depends if you're going to be building, or working on client editable sites or not.
- How are open databases ranked against websites?

In-place video design
I depends on the video player being used and how it's configured. By default when a video starts playing control will normally automatically hide after a couple of seconds, if you mouseover the video (or tap on a mobile device) the controls will reappear. Most video players have configurations options that allow the designer to dictate how the controls are displayed, in your example it could be that these are set for controls to be always visible rather than auto hide.

How are open databases ranked against websites?
Welcome to the forums That's correct, it's one page within a whole site, in your example a site that holds company registration records that the public have access to. Search engines try to match your query such as "3796825 CANADA INC." and present you with any matches they have listed in their database. Usually you'll get several matches from pages on different sites for any search you make. Exactly how Google and others rank sites is a closely guarded secret (Google don't tell anyone!) but there are a myriad of things that can influence ranking including: the word(s) you are searching for, if a page has the exact phrase "3796825 CANADA INC." then it's likely that page may be useful to you so come up higher in the results the age of the site, sometimes older sites are seen as more trustworthy for good information relevancy, under the hood search engines use many algorithms to get results, they would probably know that "3796825 CANADA INC." looks like a company registration number so they will filter results that way

Why do SEO agencies seem to poach website design clients?
What other have said, but here's my take: Sometimes clients just move on for a myriad of reasons, don't take it personally. As Jack said they can get swayed by a "cheap" offer or sales talk. If a client leaves me I tell them I'll leave the door open should things go tits up - I've had more than one client over the years come back because things didn't live up to the promises they were made.

Is someone trying to scam me
Welcome to the forums It certainly whiffs a bit, especially as the same job has appeared widely since last March and only being able to pay by cheque. Posting the same job a few times isn't uncommon as it can take some attempts to find the right match, but you would have thought they'd have found someone pretty quick through PPH, it is after all a very simple job. I think you're right to be wary, and as you instincts have kicked in that's a red flag to me. If it were me I'd ditch this one.

GDPR & a web site
If you only use contact forms and don't use the info for any other purpose than responding to the enquiry I wouldn't add anything further. I have noted though that some clients like to add a note with the form such as "Your details won't be used for any other purpose than answering your enquiry".

GDPR & a web site
GDPR focuses on businesses collecting, storing and using personally identifiable information. If you do any of that then you'd need to get consent. There are some exceptions which fall under "fair usage" so long as the information collected from such activities is only used for that purpose, such as: Shopping carts where the customer needs to supply an address so items can be posted to them A contact form that will expose things like name/email address If you only have contact forms and only use supplied information for responding to an enquiry then you don't need really to say anything.
